I keep Laphroig, Glenfiddich and Macallan on hand for guests. That's a lot of Scotch to have for a non-Scotch drinker, huh? Especially since I rarely have guests who request scotch. Hrmph!
Probably the $40-$50 range.
vw, all the ones I mentioned are in that range (and since Nora likes Macallan, go for that!).
Second the Glenmorangie, it's my go-to--and if you like a sweeter, more cream-finished single malt you can try Aberlour--and the Isle of Jura. The Glenlivet is fantastic when you want a drier, more astringent and complex single malt, but it may not be the scotch you want for company.
This is a gift for my boss, so...
A blended scotch I like a lot is The Dimple. Known stateside as Pinch.
I would think a 12 year Macallan or Glen (either of them) would be fine for a gift for a boss, and they're all pretty much in that range.
I just got back from what was supposed to be observing PHR clinic in Jaffa, and turned out to be, within 30 minutes, volunteering there.
It was truly amazing experience. Kick ass, humbling, great experience.
I recommend it highly.
You are amazing, Shir.
