I really can't believe he's gone (3 hours ago he was still alive!), but very relived to know he's not in pain anymore.
There's blood and fur on my clothes, blood and fur on my carpet, where he had the seizures. I was there with him when it happened.
I can't believe how non-functioned I got. My sis moved things, while I shivered and started weeping.
At the end, we all were in the room with him, petted him down to sleep and kissed him goodbye.
His stuff will be donated to the local RSPCA.
I uploaded some of his pictures to my Flickr, here, few days ago (changed the title today): [link]
Thank you for all of your comments. I really can't believe I won't see him again.
some of his pictures
Such a beautiful boy. Peace to you Shir.
The NFU looks like what I am looking for.
I'm pretty certain it's what I was wearing. I don't think I bought the Zoya Irene until later. The Nfu Oh is just ... man, I love that color so much. It's the only color I own a backup for just because I can't imagine not having it.
I'm sorry, Shir. That's so hard.
Here is Oz at the drive-thru [link]
Poor, Oz, he's trembling with antici....Say it!...pation.
Separating happy and sad dog posts, smonster, I'd agree with Bonny that Frankie looks like a pit mix; in my experience pits and their mixes are utter sweethearts and should be trained and socialized as appropriate for their personalities needs (in other words, like any other dog) but not for a minute feared or shunned just because they have big brindly bull heads. Still, it's worth being aware that there will be people out there who will be dumbasses out of breed prejudice, which may very well be why the shelter has him labeled as a boxer mix.
I'm not sure if you know it, but Pam of Pam's House Blend has turned into a fierce pit advocate and anti-breed-prejudice type since adopting one a year or so ago from the Wake Co. Shelter. You can probably find some of her writing on the subject at the Blend; we don't have any crazy breed ban laws around here, thank doG, but she'd be up on the dirt if there were any threats of same. (aside from being generally awesome, of course.)
Here you can hear him cry for beer. [link] Oz LOVES beer. It is his favorite thing evar! We have no idea where he got the idea that he. must. have. the. beer. because we didn't just start off giving it to him. Nevertheless...
Still, it's worth being aware that there will be people out there who will be dumbasses out of breed prejudice
Around here, we get this with pretty much all breeds...seriously, people shrieking and cringing from previous bad experiences. Le sigh. The exact OPPOSITE of the behavior that keeps people safe.
Shir, peace to you and your family. Beautiful Lou.
Thanks to everyone for their wise words. I feel better. Lisah's friends have also been a great help.
amych, Pam is totally awesomesauce. Will check out what she has to say.
bonny, I haven't gotten anything from you. I'll check my spam folder later.
And now I'm off to the pet store to buy treats and a couple of toys!
