Dang, i wanna give blood but the red cross won't take it on account of living in the UK during the wrong years. Apparently having been a strict vegetarian doesn't matter. I wrote a long letter to the red cross spelling out all the many reasons why they should be taking my blood, and they politely declined it due to potential health issues. That was when i lived in CA. I wonder how good their records are, if i could just shift the years i was in London...one year later and i would be out of the "no go" zone. I suppose that would be unethical, but i have pretty dang good AB- blood and do very well with blood draws and sticks. I get angry when a huge corporation disses my blood based on the possibility that i might be wrong about not having eaten any beef whilst in the UK. (insert joke here about being "slipped some beed" without my knowledge)

I gave up giving blood after the third time in a row of low iron. More because it annoyed me that the standards are higher than anything a doctor would treat for.

I was giving blood every 3 months up until that time. I don't really have any needle fears, but I do not need to actually see what is going on . I gave blood regularly because I felt that every drop I gave , was helping someone. It was a literal giving of myself.

For me, I can't always give money. And I am greedy with my time. So I gave blood.

For all of you that are trying, I give you the the important words:

Blood is life

I've got a phone interview tomorrow afternoon, and I can't get to sleep now. At least the interview isn't in the morning.

I was disqualified by the Red Cross for having a false positive on a hepatitis test but another blood bank (Providence) is happy to take my blood.

I'm awake b/c B called thinking he'd get my voicemail and we talked for about 45 min. So my mood is improved but I'm not sure I can get back to sleep. Need to try, though.

A friend I just got back in touch with via FB has put me in touch with another friend of his who lives in town. He thinks we'll get along. Very sweet of him. He actually lives in Somerville now, coincidentally.

IOON- I have assembled 20 boxes. Haven't packed any yet, but I have taped 20 of them together. Ready to receive a ton of books. Also, I got a kick ass tape gun for this move. So much better than the crappy lil "starter kit" tape gun I got for the last move. Oh ya, Christmas Presents will be wrapped REAL tight this year!
