Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I'm a fucking amazing catch!--Fiona Gallagher, Shameless(US)

Both he and Piven are very MPD that way. Either people write "What a gracious guy!" Or they write "He glowered at me after I quoted That Movie," or you know "Hug it out," for the eight-millionth time. (I mean, I guess we're all a bit like that, you know, but people don't write about how I eat a sandwich...thank god, too, as all my features would start with "Erika gingerly plucks a tomato out of her lap, and says she'll understand if we don't shake hands.")

The discussion about IQ testing provides some proof for my theory that Buffistas are not classifiable.

Loved Shir's "Singed, enthusiast-on-her-way-to-be-educated historian ..."

And for Thanksgiving, you know what's vegetarian? vegan even? BOOZE

Our wings are not tired.

Oh, GC, I am so relieved that you got an appointment with a new OB, and I sure hope s/he is awesome and treats you and DW well.

I am Vortex when it comes to sleeping in my own bed. I seriously need my retreat time at the end of the day.

The hostess for Thanksgiving is my Aunt Karen, whose husband probably has 30-40 more days to live. I fully expect that every single dish is made with meat parts or meat juices. I am certainly not going to mention my dietary habits to her. Like I said, it's one day, I can eat salad and pie and be perfectly happy. Most of you who've met me know that I have no problem asserting myself and getting what I need in life. I can refrain for one day so that my Aunt doesn't have one more thing to worry about.

ETA: Besides, DUDES, I am going to miss the WINE may more than anything else!!! That is a much more difficult change than not being able to eat stuffing!

Shit's all sorts of different now.

If I were still in LA, I'd meet you somewhere and give you an awesome veggie dish to take with you.

So, I might have saved a life today. I'm chalking it up to a win.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

Java, I guess my feeling is I would worry about why you were only eating salad (and why you didn't tell me you were a vegetarian) more than I'd worry about having to make a vegetarian side. But I'm sure you know your family best.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That Fray song was educational!

Story?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

oh ... update on the saga of mom: Friday I got a call from my sister saying that mom had been in the hospital for two days with "congestive heart failure". We couldn't really talk during the day, so we spoke that evening. They'd turned mom loose (congestive heart failure? isn't that usually kind of, um, FATAL?) but she wasn't up to speaking coherently. Turns out my sister's going in for knee replacement surgery on Dec. 10; I offered to go up and stay with them to help out for the first week or so - my sister seemed to think that would be good.

Spent Friday night lying awake trying to figure out how to juggle my schedule and remaining leave time to take off, how I'd get up there, things that would need to be done - my usual strategizing - and getting used to the idea of being up there in mid-December but not Christmas (can't manage the time or money). Sunday we spoke again and when I asked about going up to help out ... I'm not needed, they've lined up some friends who'll take care of it all.

Kind of a relief, but I'm practically getting whiplash from the emotional back and forth.

Then I get a letter from my insurance company saying that they're not covering my appendectomy. Reason? I was healthy afterwards. Turns out that they're objecting to my having been admitted to the hospital - they think that, since I was healthy and didn't have any complications, I should have been put in an observation room for a few hours and then sent home ... which would have been at about 2:00am. So, due to this objection, they're not paying for any of it. $19K and change. I spoke with the hospital and they're writing it off as uncollectable, which is a relief, since I don't have that kind of money lying around. But now I'm worrying that I'm going to have problems getting medical treatment in the future, if the insurance company's going to deny this kind of thing.

bleah ... it's a Monday to end all Mondays (and it's raining).

Our wings are not tired.

Yeah, I don't think anyone will be noticing what I am eating! And I am probably exagerrating about only eating salad. I bet there will be potatoes and lots of good stuff.

Aims, I wish you were living in LA but not so you could give me food. But so that I could SEE YOU!!! And how did you save a life today? And thanks, 'cause now I am earwormed with Sir Elton.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.
