I just came in, but I think it wasn't so much, "YAY Nuns!" but "Fuck Stupak" for saying when he wants to talk about abortion, he talks to the Bishops (who are, you know, all men).
Stupak is a giant asshole.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I took my 50% as long as normal to get to work this morning (an extra 30 minutes). And, after Castle ROck (for those familiar with CO), there was a huge slow down going down a big hill on a sheet of ice. I, of course, was driving Joe's car which doesn't handle ice so well. Thankfully, I used my "I learned to drive in MN before anti-lock brakes" driving techniques and managed to avoid an accident. Still, after my friend died on Monday in a car accident made worse by icy roads, I was very freaked out.
Continuing safe travels, Stephanie. Freaking out was entirely understandable.
{{{Stephanie}}} I'm glad you are safe. Continued safe-driving~ma to you.
I heart Jon Stewart.
Aw, Stephanie-- continued safe travels.
Thanks. I am assuming it's related to my friend's accident mostly, but it's weird because I made this same commute for two years and never worried about dying. I don't know if I'm getting more anxious as I get older, if it's about my kids, or something else. I think that I will feel better though as it starts to get lighter our in the morning.

But if he had talked to the nuns, they would have supported him. That's where I'm getting confused.
(I mean, it's nice that the nuns aren't asking for the bill to be even more anti-choice, which is what the bishops want, but they're still supporting legislation that effectively bans abortions for poor people.)
Jess, I thought the point was that, reagrdless of the topic, Stupak was very dismissive of nuns, as in "nuns are worthless, I only talk to the men".
I am slowly waking up and trying to find the energy to go out and search for zeppole for St Joseph's Day today.
I don't know the particulars, but the nuns may well be supporting it for reasons broader-reaching than the no abortionness.
There has always been a bunch of social justice oriented leaders in the Roman Catholic church and some of the Sisters can be particularly mouthy. JZ would know the specifics.
In happy me news, the rec center in my neighborhood not only has an excercise room, it has computers with ::gasp:: pretty nice printers. In fact, one is color. I haven't had a printer in years since I don't print much, never more than what was reasonable to do at work. Job (both legal and voice over) hunting is sooooo much easier with this magical power once again at my fingertips.
Not bad for fiddy bucks a year.
