Tons of doggy~ma, Shir.
Hey, Rick! I remember seeing you somewhere... the delurking thread, maybe?
I need to get to bed soon. I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn to go to a seminar on managing behavior problems. Yes, I volunteered to go.
ETA: I forgot to say, Cutiehead!Shanie made me smile, and took me right out of a bad mood I was in. Thank you, darling young man. Many blessings be heaped on your head.
P.S. Harvey is purring up a storm at the computer. He wants all of you to feel warm and loved.
I saw Shanie and started singing the lumberjack song.
dog ma ~~~`
nice to see you Rick just in time to give Hil advice.
Doggie~ma, Shir.
Hoping a change in meds helps Em - it's good that it's been helping up to now.
Shanie in the hat is adorable.
Wishing for a quick diagnosis for SLNRLBF's son.
Hil, wishing you job-finding~ma. Academic jobs are thin on the ground in the UK, too. Everyone at Leeds Uni is on postdoc short-term contracts, despite clearly being suited for permanent positions, while other good people are suddenly losing jobs. I hope you can find something that fits for you - I don't know about there, but here teaching experience is often highly valued, especially since fewer academics want to focus in that direction.
Is it totally crazy that I'm considering quitting my Disability Equality Training trainers' course over one person? We're supposed to be delivering a (very short) presentation together. She has changed the subject of the presentation four times. On account of being a dyspraxic mess, this much change makes me want to go to bed, hide under the covers and cry. The last change she suggested was last night - 36 hours before we have to present - and was copied and pasted from a website. The course itself has been difficult for me, from various access perspectives, and this has tipped me over the edge somewhat. But I want the certificate at the end. Trying to focus on that.
Inon-rantyN, The Girl is going to be on a BBC Radio 4 panel talking about her fledgling movement against the beauty myth, why feminism is unpopular among young women, etc. This is very exciting. I've been invited to the recording. I don't know if the show will be available outside the UK, but I'll try to get a link for you peeps!
Dog~ma to Shir and job~ma to Hil.
I'll try to get a link for you peeps!
Oh, good—it sounds really interesting!
I'm working from home today. It's supposed to get up to the mid-70s, so I'll be able to open all the windows. I love spring in NC.
I was just happily dreaming that I was in London looking for a place to have afternoon tea. I would like a scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam now please.

Come! I'll take you to seven or eight such places!

I am going to hold you to that someday.
I am going to hold you to that someday.
I've already started making the list (as The Girl rolls her eyes).
I would like a scone with clotted cream and strawberry jam now please.
I had enjoyed my ruby red grapefruit breakfast, until reading this.
My eldest is looking at apartments with a friend and getting a job and stuff. It's an interesting transition. A number of people I know are shocked that I am encouraging him to leave, but I honestly believe he needs to be on his own for a while. Tensions are high between B and his brother, and his father. He has never worked for anyone except his parents. His dad and I were both on our own at 18 and I don't think he'll mess up any more than the rest of us.
