Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
She is desperate that we don't call the police or landlord when these things happen, but we don't know exactly how to explain to her that we are not comfortable physically confronting her when she is obviously not in control.
For God's sake don't let that stop you from making the calls, sj. I'd call faster, knowing that, frankly.
If she does this every weekend, she deserves to have the authorities called. Why does she get to 'escape' the world, and cause you tension, stress, anxiety? And throw a kid in the mix? Ya, that's all kinds of bad.
What WindSparrow said. Also, she's doing this when her teenage daughter is there? How is this affecting her kid? This could cause her to lose custody, which is probably another reason she's desperate that the authorities don't find out about her behavior.
I know that I shouldn't let that stop me from calling the cops, and if I honestly feel in danger or as in the past I felt her daughter was in danger, believe me I will. However, the pattern seems to be emerging that she is just going to fucking scream her head off until she passes out. I really do wish there was something I could do for her daughter, but I have met the dad, and sadly he doesn't seem any better. She'll be an adult in a couple of years and it is my sincere hope that she takes that opportunity to get the hell out and never look back.

That is still not something you should have to be subjected to. I don't want you to feel bad about not calling if you don't want to call, you are no more responsible for visiting consequences upon her than you are for keeping her free of consequences, but you should never feel like you shouldn't call if you want to, and that can be for a range of reasons, from you are in immediate danger to she's too freaking loud. {{sj}}
I understand feeling sorry for her, sj, but don't let your big heart stop you from calling the police or the landlord in those situations.
Your quality of life is suffering from that woman's addictions and it's not helping her or her daughter to try to ignore it. Especially if she gets out of control and scares you.
WS, ~t, and Cash are all very wise.
I didn't sleep well last night so I slept very late. I have a few things to do, and then I'll be heading over to amyth's to watch the red carpet.
Anyone heard from Barb about Mooshu?
She said her daughter told her what happened yesterday, and she remembers none of it.
Ugh, gross.
I'd tell her that you will indeed call the landlord if there are noise issues and you will call the police if it sounds like violence is happening. Don't let her suck you into her alcoholic head games.
With alcoholics, you HAVE to set boundaries and stick to them. Otherwise you will continue to be subjected to destructive behavior, manipulation, and lies. It's unfortunate that you have been put in this position, but believe me, she doesn't care that she's done so, and will not act in any regard or with any respect for your feelings.
Ignoring this problem will most definitely not make it go away, unfortunately.
Anyone heard from Barb about Mooshu?
He's currently at the vet over the weekend. He had a very bad night on Friday night, just panting heavily and occasionally whimpering, so I had him back at the vet first thing yesterday morning. X-rays revealed a huge amount of gas in his stomach—they were able to extract a good bit with a tube down his throat, then fed him about half a bottle of Maalox to try to settle the rest. He still wasn't feeling great, so we made the decision to leave him there, where the docs/techs will be checking in every few hours, rather than risk bringing him home and if he suddenly worsened, we'd have to be casting about for an emergency vet.
The x-rays are currently with a radiologist just to make sure there's not a twist anywhere in his abdomen causing the gas to be trapped-- they don't think so, but it's a double check sort of thing. The more sobering thing is that his liver enzymes are super high-- this could be any number of things, from the onset of acute liver disease, to indication of a tumor. Hopefully, it's nothing. But if it is, we may have some hard decision making to do soon. We've done long-term care of a pet with a chronic illness, so it's not that, nor is it the money, since I'd sell every damned designer shoe I own to get my pets care, if that's what it came to-- it's more quality of life. He's a good boy and deserves the best.
I hope Mooshu will be all right, Barb.
