I think the current Republican party is more authoritarian than conservative.
The Republican Party or the Tea Party splinter movement? (Serious question - it's hard to tell them apart from inside my liberal bubble. The "conservative"/Tea Party movement seems to me to be so far outside the realm of sanity that I don't feel comfortable assigning them a space on the left/right spectrum, but I have no idea how well they represent Joe Republican On The Street.)

I think the Tea Party is undefined, there's a lot of energy but I don't have a feel for any kind of platform. IMO, the Republican party is having some identity issues too, I'm having a hard time identifying an agenda aside from "against whatever Obama is for".
I said yes, but I'm kind of puzzled as to why they bothered to send those emails, since there was nothing in the email to indicate what made the new positions any different from the one that we'd already applied to.

I'm up to 91 pages on my dissertation now. It needs serious editing, but I'm pretty much done with all the actual content -- I've got a bit of the last chapter left to write, and then I just need to write the introduction. Introductions always take me forever.
