See, in my fantasy, when I'm kissing you... you're kissing me. It's okay. I can wait.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Oh, friends. I don't remember exactly when I delurked, but I know it was 1999 or earlier (cue Prince).

I know I was working a temp job in Minneapolis, working in a lot of theater (as a stage manager & director), dating my now-ex-husband, probably in the middle of the polyamory experiment (I know I was on TT for that, if not Buffistas), and generally fearful for the future, because I sincerely believed Y2K would be an actual problem. (Due to people overemphasizing the not-really-a-problem.)

Oh, you sweet summer child.

I am now in SF, on here much less than I would like (partially thanks to players named above), and remarried to someone much more snarky and Canadian. Currently unemployed, but filling my days with pro bono graphic design gigs, as well as some acting. I still abuse parentheses, though.

Good to see you all!

Hmmm. I remember I delurked on World Crossing on Christmas of 2002; I'd found the board some months before, but had to work up the courage to post. My mother had passed away earlier in the year and that first Christmas without her was particularly hard. Finally taking the plunge and interacting with the people in the box helped take my mind off how crappy I was feeling.

At the time, in a bit of a reverse from the adult child moving back in with the 'rents, I was a 'rent sharing an apartment with my adult daughter and her roommate. I had let the lease on my apartment expire because I was hoping to buy a condo, but it took me a little longer to find one I liked than I thought it would. I'd finally graduated from college in 2000, after plunking away at it for 17 years, but found myself languishing at a manufacturing job I'd taken to help get me through school. It actually paid fairly well, but it wasn't what I wanted to be doing for the rest of my life. I think a lot of folks here can say similar things about their lives right after graduation. So, having the folks in the little box, who thought and spoke like/to me, was something to celebrate when I found it. What better time than Christmas!

Hard to believe that was 12 years ago! I've been in my condo for 11 years, gone through two other jobs since, and now I've dipped my toe back into college with a graduate course in research methods and procedures in educational administration. A little ambivalent about actually applying for the master's program (Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis), but with the WI G.I. Bill paying full tuition, I'd be a fool not to take advantage of it.

It's nice to have this place to retreat to, even if I don't participate much any more. I still check Beep Me and pop into a few threads here and there, it's like comfort food for the soul. You guys are good cooks.

I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night.

You know, I had written this long post about the 1999 me and all the reasons why I have lurked but not participated - but screw it, I'm going in. After 15 years, and with strong opinions about the Oxford comma, muffalettas and cilantro, I think I'm ready.

15 years of lurking! I think you win the prize, lcat. Welcome!

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Welcome, lcat!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Welcome, lcat!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Welcome aboard!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Nicely done!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yay, lcat! Spout off and pontificate with abandon!
