"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Although I did run into a lady a few months ago with the last name spelled "Boucher," who looked at me funny when I called her "Mrs. Booo-sheeaaee" and told me that her name is Mrs. Butcher, thank you very much.

Obviously not related to Joe Boucher, who posts here but uses your preferred pronunciation.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Cairo is KAY-row.

Illinois has one of those too.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Heh. And Butterfly Boucher's last name rhymes with "sloucher."

That's the one I've heard most often...that's wrong. Vonnie has the correct pronunciation, at least from a French-Canadian perspective.

The one that I've heard the bearers of give up on is "Fournier" which gets pronounced For-nee-or more than the correct For-nee-ay.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The one that always confused freshmen at Tulane who were not from Louisiana was a building called Fortier, pronounced for-SHAY.

Hi Betsy! Matt keeps me update on you and your family because he is the LJ reader.

and Hi Vonnie -- you did used to post more...

I like the fact that this thread has an end date ... because we can have this much fun next year. and instead of lurkers they can rename them selves to holiday posters!

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Betsy! Good to see your pixels! So sorry to hear about your and W's migraines.

Maybe we should send the kitty to Cheney? Getting caught with some right leaning pussy might just shut him up for a while.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

That's the one I've heard most often...that's wrong. Vonnie has the correct pronunciation, at least from a French-Canadian perspective.

She's Australian.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

She's Australian.

That's interesting, the only Boucher I've come across pronounced it the same way.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

OK, Buffista map question:

You supposed to be the blue balloon, right? So why is there another in Colombia? Does my evil twin live(s?) there?

Also, I still want to know who's the Syrian Buffista, very much.

All is well that ends in pizza.

If you click on a balloon, it shows the name.

Sam E in this case.
