I'm assuming the "real" Temperance Brennan, Kathy Reichs, isn't profoundly broken when it comes to common cultural awareness and how people interact and that her books stand a better chance of success. I might put one on hold at the library to see.
The book Tempe Brennan is basically nothing like Bones, aside from working in the same field. I don't know what Kathy Reichs is like, but I'm willing to be it's more like book Brennana.
I love Bones, mostly b/c it has Boreanaz all growed up and actually *acting*. It's my carefree fandom, though. I don't think very hard when I watch it, I don't read any fic, I generally don't get annoyed by the stupid shit (which I freely admit exists). One noteable exception was the episode with Booth's "fat" stalker a season or two ago - I had a minor rage blackout over her portrayal.

Random side note - Kathy Reichs was in town last week for our lit festival... I could have seen her speak if I really wanted to. But I didn't really want to and I was in recycler mode, not intellectual talk mode, so I didn't. Otherwise I might have been able to speak to her Aspergerness.
I present this without further comment; just, check out who is responsible for the #1 place-getter. [link]
Marvelous.
Kathy Reichs claims that she sees it as two Brennans-- TV Brennan and Book Brennan. She says she sees TV Brennan as a younger, softer version of Book Brennan.
I gave up on the books awhile ago -- I watch the show as fluff . of course it is silly. I can't defend it but I like it.
Fred, so sorry for you all and Rigatoni. Hope they are able to remedy things.
So I spent 30 minutes this morning thinking it was Saturday.
Unsurprisingly, I'm rather put out that it is not.
Oh, Fred -- good luck to you and Rigatoni.
Health-ma to Rigatoni, Fred Pete.
Poor Rigatoni. I hope he bounces back, FredPete.
my best to you all , FredPete
