Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Somebody make me stop reading DMN's transportation blog.

I seriously just read this comment. "This is another huge waste of money. Only the lowest of classes ride public transportation. You won't find anyone who owns a home for $200,000 and up who needs to ride a bus or train into work."

Also there is a post with a map of the old street car lines which ran pretty much everywhere I go right now.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

This is just wrong, in addition to being classist.

Also, I hope the person who made that post loses his/her job.

(What, did I post that out loud?)

And another thing: Without public transit, companies would have to pay "the lowest of classes" more money so they could afford to own cars to drive to work. Plus more tax $ for more roads, etc. So Mr or Ms. $200,000 a year plus would have less money.

Finally and in conclusion, fuck that bastard.

brillig

That's a very common opinion in my town. There was even a protest about expanding bus service because it would enable "the wrong sorts" to get to the mall do "stuff". And radio morning hosts on stations I no longer listed to will often complain about the people they have to sit near on the bus/train. I hear my cow-orkers saying the same.

It's the Public Transport Catch-22: the PTB won't put in new routes because not enough people use the current ones, and people won't ride the bus because the current routes and times suck.

Punishingly Intricate

Common opinion here, too. Although not so much classist as racist.

Yes. I'm sure those stations up in Plano are just packed with the poor, the tired, huddled masses...yada, yada.

I make decent money, but I need to ride the train. Know why? Because driving downtown would make me go postal. Not to mention $10 to park.

It's also fairly obvious most of those commenters who hate DART have never stepped foot on it. $200,000 homes? Tell that to the guy in my hood where most homes don't go for under $300,000 and more are in the $500,000 plus range (Mr. Jane and I rent an older duplex) who takes the bus and the train every morning.
