Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Oh yeah, that's totally true. The hitler thing makes me insane, hyperbole-wise.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think most kids growing up now don't really "get" racism or homophobia in the same way my generation does. Or, I could be writing this from my safe enclave of Los Angeles, in my blue state Hollyweird Librul comfort.

Pessimistically I think you are, although I have no evidence to support that.

And I don't think he was actually a Nazi either

Do you have proof of that? Hmm? Hmm?

It is statistically improbable that Federer will win this match. Djokovic can beat him, and it's just too much for Roger to keep winning. That having been said, I hope I didn't just jinx him.

But I never think he will win. I always hope he will, but I never expect it.

Our wings are not tired.

It is likely statistically improbable that Federer has won as many as he has already, what's one more?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Well, it's not like people didn't put a Hitler mustache etc. on GWB as well... [link] And I don't think he was actually a Nazi either.

But I think the current craziness on the right far exceeds the craziness of the left when GWB was in office. Plus there is no left-wing equivalent of Fox news when it comes to audience size. Plus Obama has done nothing comparable to creating fake evidence to justify a war of choice. Plus Obama won in a landslide and is merely trying to implement the platform he ran on, whereas GWB ran as a moderate Republican and instead implemented a far-right platform.

Sorry, but the "both sides do it" argument bugs me to some extent.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh, absolutely. I just think the individual crazy pictures aren't the best evidence of the current craziness on the far right.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Congratulations Nilly! I hope you have a wonderful wedding.

Sorry, but the "both sides do it" argument bugs me to some extent.

Me too. Did you see the Glen Greenwald essay comparing the right wing treatment of Obama to their treatment of Clinton? A very useful reminder.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Sorry, but the "both sides do it" argument bugs me to some extent.

I will just look at it this way. And yet somehow still brace myself for his inevitable sometime crushing defeat. It's been a hell of a ride to watch and cheer.

I agree with you on the "both sides" thing, tommyrot, but I think it's very useful to be able to say, "GET THE HELL OFF MY SIDE, YOU'RE MAKING ME LOOK CRAZY, TOO!" which is what I wish more conservative would do. In debate, and in conversation, as soon as someone brngs up Michael Moore, Barbara Streisand, or other crazyleftpeople, I am quick to say, "Look, Michael Moore doesn't speak for me, or the democrats on the barstools in Southie sipping beers after the third shift. And I'm working on the assumption that Glenn Beck doesn't speak for you, either. So let's start from a different place now that we have that out of the way, and not argue the points of crazy people neither of us agree with."

Weirdly, Joe Scarborough has been doing that a lot re: "death panels" and challenging his wingnuttier guests to show him where that exists in the bill, and not letting them slide.

I think they're starting to inch away from the crazy, which is so much better for the country.

He is one of the conservative voices I can totally disagree with and still believe he pays attention to facts. I can't deal with the crazies on either side that just make shit up. Although right now the right side crazies really do seem to outnumber the lefties by far.
