I think they were applauding the fact that Obama *called out* the misinformation.
While I was typing that, did someone just yell out "Lie!" at Obama's statement about illegal immigrants? What the shit???
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

"Federal conscience laws" MY LIBERAL FEMINIST ASS.
I mostly liked this speech until about ten seconds ago. Now I'm angry again.
Who yelled "Lie?"
Did someone just heckle the President?
Who yelled "Lie?"
Some jackhole.
Quick Emmett Update:
1) He's started Krav. He was a wrung out noodle after his first session. He's the only kid in his age group so for a group fee, he's getting one-on-one training. But he likes it. It'll be twice a weekk.
2) He was assigned a paper in English titled "What I Believe." It's pretty cool.
***********
I believe in the United States Constitution and the Geneva Convention.
The Bush administration was so filled with scandals that it made Richard Nixon look like the greatest guy in the world. I can honestly say that George Bush is the stupidest guy ever and Dick Cheney the most dangerous.
Bush claimed that he never once used torture on anyone and recently in the news, Dick Cheney says on national television that they did use torture because it was effective. He also believes he shouldn’t be prosecuted for it.
I was watching MSNBC and heard that they waterboarded a prisoner 119 times in one month. And that’s what we know. We also know they threatened prisoners by telling them they would kill their children and rape their mothers in front of them. In my opinion Obama should have them all thrown in jail for what they did.
The Eighth Amendment of the United States Constitution states, in part: “nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”
The Geneva Convention states, in part: “Protected persons are entitled, in all circumstances, to respect for their persons, their honour, their family rights, their religious convictions and practices, and their manners and customs. They shall at all times be humanely treated, and shall be protected especially against all acts of violence or threats thereof and against insults and public curiosity.”
Bush violated both the Eighth Amendment and the Geneva Convention by having the F.B.I kidnap people who he thought were terrorist suspects. Then he would torture them for information. He claims to this day that water boarding is not torture. The definition for torture is ‘the act of inflicting severe pain as a punishment or forcible means of persuasion’. While president, Bush used torture as a punishment. He used torture to persuade them into giving him information. And I’m pretty sure that if you asked anyone that he tortured they would say it was severely painful.
I believe that everyone should follow the law, Presidents included.
Really, the endless pandering to insurance companies can end any time now. I'm with the people who were cheering for Canada in the opening remarks.
There are some seriously sourpuss-faced Republicans in that room right now. It's funny every time the camera pans past them.

What that says to me is how fucking big of a lobby the insurance companies are. Bastards. t edit Which is to say, they have so much influence that they get pandered to so that Pelosi doesn't wake up with a horse's head in her bed.
The one sitting next to McCain almost applauded.
