Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

{{Alibelle}} What an awful week! Hiding sounds like a reasonable reaction.

My niece is going to Dragoncon for the first time. She's running a booth or something for a band called Bella Morte. She may be a zombie. I hope she enjoys it; she generally doesn't like crowds any more than I do, unless she's on stage.

Oh hey! I think I have some music by them! I know I've heard good things about them.

Seriously Universe-- enough, already.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

ETA: And tommyrot, I'm so sorry that things are sucking right now. Once I'm back from DragonCon, maybe we could have a Chicagoista meet-up? I totally would buy you some foods.

Ooh, that would be awesome!

Because books.

Moving is so tough, tommy. I hope you settle in quickly.

Why is the L.A. fire referred to as the "station" fire? Does this have something to do with where it originated? I am completely clueless about L.A. geography, so.

Amy, because it started by one of the national forest ranger stations, or so I'm told.

We lost power this morning (lots of the power lines run through the area that is on fire). But it might be something else as there was a giant popping noise.

We're dogsitting K's friend's dog who lives up there.

And two of the school districts up there are closed today even though today was supposed to be opening day.

Ah. Thanks, Kat. What a scary thing.

Some scaryass pictures from around JPL are making the rounds here.

Angry chickadee season appears to have started.

We're fine, minus the terrible smoke. Grace's facility is closer(like maybe 5 miles) and through a dry canyon (one that had a small fire last year). If they had to evacuate, which I hope they won't, Grace is at least stable enough and no longer vent-dependent that it wouldn't be super harrowing. In fact, their evacuation plan is that if they have to go, then they send kids to local hospitals that have available space. Grace would no longer have to be in a PICU as she no longer has a ventilator.
