Hey, don't worry about it. Nest full of vampires, you come get me, okay. Box full of puppies, that's more of a judgement call.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Birthday girl! That looks like a fun party.

information libertarian

It was exhausting (but fun). Five very well-behaved little girls for two hours and I needed the rest of the day to recover. I cannot imagine how anyone teaches kindergarten.

And in the afternoon, we got to make shrinky dinks (one of the gifts)!

Shrinky dinks are back! Whoa.

“Not dead yet!”

Aw, she looks so grown up, flea. I'm glad she recovered enough to have a good time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

She looks so like you, flea.

the laundromat has more machines and is less creepy

Where have you been living? I think I'd be creeped (crept?) out living somewhere with a creepy laundry room. I can't see the creep stopping there.

Laundry room here is a tiny room that opens directly onto the courtyard, so it's not off the beaten path at all. Last place it was on the way up from the parking garage. I've been fortunate that way.

I do have a nearby laundromat for when laundry gets totally out of control and I want it all done at once, but it's been a while since I had the inclination.

I've always had them in the basement, and I generally find basements creepy anyway.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Goodness, casper's an adorable not-so-little-anymore girl! I'm glad she felt better in time for her party.

In unrelated news, I woke up feeling dizzy and blegh today. After doing a thoroughly half-assed job of helping Amyth move, I went home to sack out on the couch and ended up tossing my cookies for half an hour. I slept for a couple of hours after that and now I feel a lot better. But I'm still not 100%. This happens to me maybe once every 3-4 years, and I never know why. There was no questionable food or contact with other people having GI upsets. Sometimes I think it's just peristalsis reminding me it can make my life miserable, so I'd better appreciate it.

Did you grow up with basements? Finished ones? Once we left Jamaica all our basements were just like more rooms of the house, so I've never really thought of them as anything other than an exciting feature of multi-level houses (not that common in Ja)

I have had the urge to sneeze all day. I'm going to take some Advil PM because it has Benadryl in it and hope that makes a difference, because it's making me insane. There's just this tickle in me nose driving me crazy. I even sneezed a few times, and it only helped for a few minutes. I need to set the Roomba to go tonight, in case it's a dust buildup.

Calli, the human body is a random and too often stupid thing. I hope you feel better soon.

I think the only time the laundry has been super creepy was when I was in a townhouse and the basement was creepy! But admittedly, one time I lived in a huge apartment building and the laundry room had these retired old men who would hang out in little waiting room next to it because that room had cable, and the old men didn't (they were like, 75?). And my roommates and I were like, 24, and the old men started out being nice and friendly, but eventually were kinda weird and creepy. And rather than stay down there with our laundry, we'd go back up to our apartment, which was kind of annoying.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Holey moley! Check out the Mt. Wilson Observatory Cam [link] . For the first time in days since I've checked you can see the flame. A friend of K's has to evacuate, but is considering not doing it because her house is "all I've got." That mindset is fucking stupid to me, especially as she has home insurance.
