I did jury duty in June. It was amazingly informative - and for the only time in my life I felt like a citizen (as opposed to "some faker who lives here and other people believe belongs").
I only got $10/day - and my employer didn't kick any money in. Contracting sucks.
I get $15 and parking costs $8.
I find out in 25 minutes.
(I do stilll get paid by work.)
Oh, I get paid by work, too. We used to have to turn over our checks to the company, but they don't have us do that anymore.
Are you on call tomorrow, too, sara?
Yup. They send out a slew of summons, numbered, but at 5 PM the day before post just a certain range of numbers that have to go downtown to sit all day.
In better news, Adam Lambert goths it up.
Good lord, that boy is pretty.
Hit a brick wall at work and can't even begin to try seeing a point in doing anything there. I want to be able to just let it roll off my shoulders, to say "fine" in a non-bitter, non-passive-aggressive manner. Wish I could say "how high?" and be happy being the dirty grunt, just a supportive cog. Wish I had a wish that wasn't bitter, god I need to get over myself.
I've got a number, too, but my boss was on standby last year and found out that when you called in the day before, they say that people with the last name starting with C-M (for example) would be needed and everyone else doesn't have to come in.
Yeah, they do it differently here, strictly by the numbers.
Heh.
I'm pretty sure here they won't give you the money if you're also paid by work. Which, I guess you could lie and get both somehow, but I'm not 100% sure.
