Punishingly Intricate

I watched Hoarders! What do you want to discuss?

I thought the two approaches in the ep last night were really interesting. I wish there was a follow up with the psychologist who was working with the woman. Because her approach really didn't seem to work at all in that instance (and, man, am I glad I don't have any hoarders in my immediate family because I would have been wayyyyyy more impatient than her son). And the perky organizer lady's did! At least in the short term.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Is there some screening process?

It used to be the ring would find you. It searched for the most willful person in the world. I'm surprised it didn't land on a toddler.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

It searched for the most willful person in the world.

So I have no fear that a ring will seek out my lazy ass....

Coding and Sleeping

In addition to the Green Lantern Corps, there are at least seven other variations on the power ring, each connected to a particular color as well as a corresponding emotion from which they derive their abilities. The known variations of power rings are: red (rage), orange (avarice), yellow (fear), green (willpower), blue (hope), indigo (compassion), violet (love), and black (death).

So you can combine rage, willpower, and hope to create any other emotion. That's deep, man.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Does this mean that the black ring searches out the most dead person in the world?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I find myself vaguely miffed that there are no Cyan or Magenta Lanterns. Because obviously there needs to be a CMYK vs. RGB showdown.

amych typed my very thought. I was imagining four superheroes, each with a letter on his chest. They have enemies that can be defeated by a particular shade. K has to do the math.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

lisah -- yeah, that's true. But it may be that the guy was readier to change.

I'm surprised they didn't give the lady the option to trash, keep or DONATE to charity, because she was so set about the stuff being wasted. Tho' nothing could make it easier to give up her kids' baby clothes. Still, if you can feel that someone else will benefit from a donation, particularly something you bought with the intention of giving away....

Ah well, it's not like her hoarding was logical, but one falls back on that. Which is probably why my house has floors that you can see.

Until a supervillain comes along who limits them to 8-bits, so they can only come up with browser-safe colors....

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Actually, it would be rage, fear, and hope. Green is yellow and blue combined.

It depends if you're talking additive or subtractive colors (i.e. light or paints).
