I really did almost adopt a cat yesterday.

An email was forwarded around my workplace about a local woman who was moving to Europe on the 8th, and needed to deal with her cat.

The horrifying part was: "Adopted by the 3rd, or euthanized." And I'm not REALLY ready for a cat - I need to cat-proof my apartment. But I'm going to get one; I decided months ago. Once I'm back from Atlanta, zip! Adopting an adult shelter-rescue.

But "Persephone" needed a home right away, so I made arrangements: an acquaintance would "foster" her until I got back on the 9th, then she'd (the kitty) would come live with me permanently.

I came to work this morning to email from the acquaintance: "She's been adopted already! I'm sorry!"

So am I, but only a little - she won't die now, and that's a big PLUS.

And I can get my own kitty now, who will be CUTER and MORE EVIL.

mouse event handlers

Intelligent agents that do crowd-control at rodent raves?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

My favorite thing to do is to make mouse event handlers throw unhandled errors. Well, for debugging, anyway....

That's it exactly.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

OK, unrelated to anything else - I was watching the Daily Show section where Jon Stewart's going into this whole "birther" thing - people insisting that Obama wasn't born in the U.S.

With all this fuss, isn't it amazing that no one's made an issue of the fact that John McCain was born in Panama? or not, considering the source ....

Only an hour of work to go, yet I desperately want a nap.

I think I'd be much happier if the workday was seven hours.

But John McCain has a more American name and he isn't a commie terrorist so he has to be American.

Then there is the whole issue of whether Hawaii really counts. It's worse than Maine which we all know is only technically not part of Canada (they don't even have real Republicans).

I seem to have gone all reactionary. I blame the Diet Pepsi(tm).
