Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

God dammit. I am so fucking pissed right now. TL;DR ahoy.

We are allowed to work one day per week from home. It's a really big deal both from a workload and a mental health standpoint. But because we are the two on-site team leads, my coworker K and I have to coordinate our days so that one of us is on site each day.

This week, K decides she needs to split her days so that she does a half day from home on Mon and a half on Wed. Tuesday we both have our performance reviews with our boss who is in town specifically for this reason so that day is out. K is out of the office entirely on Friday to work at a client site. She's also out all of next week.

So on Tues, I check in with her, say are you still from home on Wed and if so I'll do Thursday. She says yes (except that she's going to actually do the whole day from home Wednesday). Fine, whatever.

So then last night, after I send a notice around to the whole team that I'm WFH today, she thinks to point out "by the way I'm leaving for the airport at 3." Okay, that's only two hours with neither of us so I ask the manager for our design group, C, if he can just be on call during that period in case any crises arise. He says fine.

Now today it comes up that a) K is acutally leaving at 2. And C is leaving at 3. What the fucking fuck?

So now I get to interrupt what I'm doing on three separate projects that have to wrap up today, get showered and dressed, and head into the office anyway. (In the rain, though at least not uphill both ways.)

I'd have been pissed at K sucking up all the available work from home days this week anyway, but this is some fucking bullshit that I do not have time for.

If I had tons of free time, I'd organize a bunch of scriveners (dressed in 19th century office garb) to protest against typewriter manufacturers.
