Without knowing any details it seems like someone having a new take on Superman where Kyrptonite makes him sing showtunes.

Well, theoretically, the red Kryptonite could do that, right (at least if my memory for comics "canon" is correct)?

You know, I think I might watch that movie.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I do think that most Tolkien *fans* are a lot less contemptible than Twilight *fans*, though.

Well, yes. I did mean that is Tolkein's writing is totally = ugh to me. Interestingly, Twilight the books? I don't have as viscerally strong a negative reaction, in part because they don't deserve a reaction one way or another. At least the Twilight books were finishable to me. Where the Hobbit etc were not.

The fans? I find Twilight fans sort of irksome and sad and I have no opinion on Tolkein fans at all beyond their rabidity.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

This all reminds me -- we had an intern last summer who was into Twilight, and the only thing I knew about the books was the glittering, and she looked at me like I was on crack. Well, now I've seen the movie, and the glittering, and she's back! I need to rehash this conversation.

Meanwhile the f***ing ex-president is offered a semi-apology from the airline and called an Oompa-Loompa by Debbie Schussel. Awesome...

While I'm feeling a bit cranky, can I ask, what is up with the Obama as Joker posters? I don't get it. Some of them even have "Socialism" across the bottom. In what way was the Joker Socialist? Collective anything doesn't really seem to be his gig. What am I missing?

What am I missing?

I think it just means that he's a villain for taking their America away.

Waiting in the ER. Mac is being admitted. He ran away from the house today, was gone an hour before found. Threatened self and me. I'll be off for a while, no access to email here. No idea on the next few days.

In all fairness, love, that's not saying a lot. Not that you aren't awesome, but some of those Twilight fans are like rabid weasels.
