Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Dan Savage on the guy who shot up the aerobics class and etc.: [link]

The Cambridge professor, who is of course British despite speaking with an American-accented vocoder,

Oh, that's funny -- totally why I never think of him as British.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

C Wolvie, F Batman, M Supes.

Supes isn't boring! He's awesome. He's funny, he likes chicks who speak their mind, he's a good friend, and he looks good in glasses!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

tonight is killing me.

vacuumed both bedrooms, half of living room and the furniture. Then vacuumed with the crevice tool all baseboards and cracks in the floor along with edges of mac's bed and back into the couch. Also got the good quality encasement on the box spring (which the packaging says to "never do alone" - it involved lifting the box spring on a shoulder while keeping the mattress balanced up on the wall with an outstretched leg, prognosis for soreness tomorrow is good). I packed up loose papers and misc crap into two small plastic containers and still there is too much lying about.

now I am on break because it is bathtime. mac is procrastinating and attempting sullen face. NOT HAVING IT. I WILL FORCE FEED YOU SILLINESS! must get him to bed so I can finish this.

I still have to try to get the wood blinds down in the bedrooms. I think it will involve tools. I may need a drink.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

More stupid health care nonsense that just happened today: One of my boss's patients has terrible, debilitating, near-constant arrhythmias unless he takes one particular drug. Without it, he's in a state where his pacemaker is constantly going off to reset his heart and he's sick and miserable and near-suicidal. He's been tried on umpteen other things, and this is it, this is all that works. With this med, he's a happy man in about as good shape as anyone sliding toward 80 with a pacemaker can expect to be.

But the drug that works for him was discontinued a couple of years ago -- most people take something else and this particular drug was needed by too few people to be profitable. He scoured the country, literally, and found one compounding pharmacy in NYC that can get all the chemical components in powder form and make the med from scratch. Which his insurer has always happily approved, until three days ago, when they decided that "bulk compounding powders" are not the same things as actual prescription drugs, and therefore he's SOL.

So far we've had two denials in 36 hours. My boss and his nurse are about ready to fly to the insurer's home offices and start punching people in the head.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Supes isn't boring!

Most of my Superman knowledge comes from Smallville. Maybe he's more interesting in different media.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Investors Business Weekly has since amended its article, removing any mention of the scientist.

Did they print an erratum? Because, really, that's what they need to do to cowboy up.

I can't believe I feel all defensive about Superman when I would totally chuck him too. I guess I just want people to feel worse about it. Not boring! Just happens to be a good guy, which neither Wolverine nor Batman exactly are.

For an actual husband, Clark Kent has to be best, regardless of any boring potential.

“Not dead yet!”

For an actual husband, Clark Kent has to be best, regardless of any boring potential.

I have to wonder, though, if he'd be so concerned with saving the world that he'd forget about saving the world close to home.

Sort of like the plumber who never works on his own pipes.

The flying thing has got to be cool. And the heat vision and supercool breath handy in the kitchen.

No, I'm not talking myself into it.
