Wash: Psychic, though? That sounds like something out of science fiction. Zoe: We live in a space ship, dear. Wash: So?

Always Anti-fascist!

Yes, things like "Forced Teaming"(making a "we" where there's not) That insult thing has a name too, and like I said it works because it makes the mark want to prove they're not "too good" or whatever-the-fuck.) Although my favorite quote from that is "No is a complete sentence." Love this, especially from a guy, but then I've crushed on de Becker since college. 'It's cause you didn't have a strong father figure, isn't it?" maybe, actually. Or because I get all "aww," when people send me mayhem over the internets.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I am not a rageaholic. I find raging an useless emotion , yet healthcare -- makes me rage.

So far I am letting real stories talk.

And , although I get where your friends are comming from Stunthusband -- fear is like rage. Unless directed into action , it isn't helpful. I have loved ones that get both ragey and fearfilled. I can't talk them out of it, but I can suggest action ( including in this case - research)

Ann, that's a ferret.

I think the logic behind any PUA system is that the man using it doesn't need a high success rate if the whole point is to get a willing woman into his bed. Maybe the guy tries his system on, say, eight women in a night. One falls for it. Even though the guy's success rate is less than 15 percent, he wins -- he got what he wanted.

I don't think that's a 19YO mentality. That's a 14YO's fantasy. The guy would probably be just as happy with a blow-up doll.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Where's the nearest Death Panel? I've lost all faith in humanity and want to ask for a suicide pill....

Punishingly Intricate

Although my favorite quote from that is "No is a complete sentence."

So true. Love that!

I look more rad than Lutheranism

For the PUA thing - I get the feeling that the men who suscribe to these beliefs aren't looking to date - or even have sex with - an average woman. They want the young, beautiful (or at least very pretty) girls - that's what they think they're entitled to.

You nailed it. (No pun intended.) Guys who, by prevailing standards, are themselves average guys, think they're entitled to young, nubile, sexy nymphomaniacs. Which I don't get -- why do they think that, even though they're not Brad Pitt, they deserve a young sexy thing?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

You know, speaking of death panels, it also drives me INSANE that people genuinely believe that the U.S. government would willingly kill off senior citizens or the terminally ill or people with Down's Syndrome. I mean, really? REALLY?

I may need ice cream to soothe my rage.

meara, isn't your employer a pharamceutical company?

Heh. Better yet...it's from the parent company of my company (mine is not a pharma)...the parent company is an INSURANCE COMPANY!

Which, BTW, gives me shitty insurance.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I am going to develop a PUA-like system to snag a sap into paying my expenses and running my errands in exchange for gracious smiles and pats on the head.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

There's argument to be made that rage can be a kind of addiction for some, which would explain the Becks and Coulters. I find that I can just chip once in a while with the good stuff, you know, for the fun of it.
