Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Yeah. They outnumber us. And if Grace were up to travel it would be even worse.

I feel like I'm having the budget olympic experience.

Sounds fun, Kat! Maybe a little crazy, but fun!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Budget Olympic is the best!

Dudes, I am so bumming right now. It looks like my company account got hit with a fraudulent charge. When I called in the first guy said it was so weird because this was the second call today for the exact same charge. So, definitely fraud.

Anyway, I had to talk to three people and have my card shut down. Sucks! But I only got hit for $113, so I guess count my lucky stars? But what I really want to know is, what did they buy from Empirestyle in Berlin?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oo, but going to the Olympics is always fun!

I am STARVING and need to go find a lunch quick. Or I'll never get to work. (Oh wait! I spent the morning getting admin work done. Yay for my lack of total slacking!)

Coding and Sleeping

For the heck of it I Googled my open source project 'Giplet' that I haven't done anything with in years. It has had several new versions and features and been translated into French and German. Kinda cool, though it's now more a product of others.

When the Olympics were here in Salt Lake, we didn't go to any events, but it was wonderful fun to see everyone who was visiting. Hubby was having lunch in his favorite Chinese buffet place and ended up playing tour guide for the Lithuanian hockey team (the hockey practice place was just down the road). He ended up helping out a lot of large, young, Slavic people and their coaches. Apparently they found a largish, friendly, Slavic-looking local who could find his way around Germanic languages very comforting.

And riding the train in Salt Lake was great fun, listening to all the different nationalities.

Then there was the Great Beer Riot from the last Sunday night. Hubby had been invited to the Germany pavilion--an odd story involving a science fiction convention at Brigham Young University, an elevator ride with the Bavarian Trade Minister, and the unexpected presence of Dick Cheney--and at the end of the night the Germans ran out of beer.

I didn't go to any games, but being in Paris for the '98 World Cup was amazing. The atmosphere was just so invigorating. Of course, it was summer.

It is beautiful outside. Bright blue skies. And yet I know it is only 13 degrees out there. I think I'm going to give up on the working from home, at least for now, and take a nap. First I need to find some pain meds for my head.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So has the Great Chicago Snowpocalypse of Not!Aught Ten turned into a bust? Or is this just a break in the storm?
