My collards and black-eyed peas are awesome, by the way. I did them in the slow cooker with some canned tomatoes and a small hunk of kielbasa I had in the freezer, as well as a healthy amount of red pepper. Le nom.
I'm still not sold on the slow cooker, but at least this was a mostly successful trial run.
Mmm. Grilled shrimp po boy. We peeled off from the rest of the group and went downtown for dinner.
Viewing has worked for me in the past. Not this time.
Happy New Year everybody!
I think going downtown for dinner sounds like a good plan, ita.
We are being lazy here. I've played lots of Rock Band and a little Wii Fit and now I want a console more than ever.
Just checking in to say that while Perkins shared her home with me, she did not share her stomach ick. Sherlock was fun - I hope you get to see the whole thing next weekend.
My dad took us to see The 39 Steps tonight. It was wonderful. A cast of four took on a ton of personae and the Hitchcock references were plentiful. Any SF folks who have the opportunity should check it out.
I'm up because my son wanted to be up. My neck and head hurt so badly I kind of want to cry.
Timelies all!
We have tickets to "Young Frankenstein" for this afternoon. Should be fun.
For my grandparents funerals, the saving grace that made it a good thing were the babies and toddlers who didn't get it and didn't like seeing people sad. So they acted up. And we all started laughing uncontrollably.
My mother in law insisted that I bring the kids into DH's grandmother's viewing because she wanted her friends to meet the kids. Owen was 3, I think. Fascinated by the floral displays by the casket, he begged to see them. So I carried him up where he caught sight of Grandma and loudly said, "WAKE UP, GRANDMA!" I think that served as comic relief for the whole weekend.
Tom Scola, how 'bout setting me up with some Kim Possible MP3s!
just got up. sorry for stealing everyone's sleep.
I cooked beans overnight on low in the crock and they are still not soft. They are also too watery.I need to drain some liquid and do some online research. I feel like I have done this before and found some trick to the one true way of cooking beans.
It hasn't stopped snowing since Thursday night.
