This is so nice. Having everyone together for my birthday. Of course, you could smash in all my toes with a hammer and it will still be the bestest Buffy Birthday Bash in a big long while.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

We already have a candidate for worst dressed of 2010

Is that a bedazzled wetsuit?

Completely unrelated... compare and contrast. The pair after those two is a little more dramatic.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Mmm yeah viewings are tough. But you`re there with family, you`re together. That`s the important bit about funerals.

Yeah, that. And you don't have to only be sad the whole time. That's OK.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I don't like viewings. I don't want to be viewed. I get earwormed with Forest Lawn and get hysterical giggles, which really is not respectful. Or understood by others.

For my grandparents funerals, the saving grace that made it a good thing were the babies and toddlers who didn't get it and didn't like seeing people sad. So they acted up. And we all started laughing uncontrollably. At my grandfather's, the pastor said "Ah, it's good to have the ___s back in this house" when the whole church fell apart laughing.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

JZ, love the hair and the look. I love your smile, too!

Good luck, Jilli! They should totally give you stuff.

I had delicious gnocchi with winter squash, sweet potatoes, and greens. Nom nom.

Viewings are weird. At my grandmother's last month, my sister was inconsolable and my brother and I kept exchanging stricken looks. The kids around did help.

I want smonster's dinner, yes. But dinner here is going to be a big ploughman's-style thing, which will be just as nummy. (Lots of different cheeses, bread, ham, olives, sliced apple, carrots, and satsumas. Mmm, cheese.)

ita, I hope you are able to decompress tonight.

I'm so glad I've never had to go to a funeral and now probably never will.

ION, Happy New Year everyone!

hip deep in pie

I found viewings comforting as a kid, but now I avoid them at all costs.

BTW, If you think JLo looked bad on stage, when they rang in the new year, she was wearing that with a fur coat thrown over it. I was have a serious WTF moment as I channel surfed by.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

That sounds really good. That gave me an idea, so now I want to try making pumpkin gnocchi served with greens.
