You two carried me through that war. Now I need you to carry me just a little bit further. If you can.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I've met a lot of comic book legends without losing my cool, but I totally geeked when I met the drummer from X.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

The upside (for my self-esteem) is that my worst reaction is to seem like I have no idea who the person is, or what they have done.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I met Robyn Hitchcock once. I said, "Is that marker permanent?" (referring to the marker he was using to autograph t-shirts.) He didn't know.

That was all I could think to say. That, or ask him what his lyric "If I was man enough I'd come on your stump" meant, but I wasn't man enough....

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm anywhere from calm to minorly obnoxious (ask the black standup comedians that play Montreal's comedy festival--sometimes it's in jest, sometimes it's deathly serious disdain, coughSINBADcough) NORMALLY. But Eric freaking Idle? I bolted. If I lose the ability to either calmly say I think you're hot shit, or to decline to say anything at all, I need to vacate the premises.

Okay, I think I'm packed. That was anti-climactic.

Liese, I'm chalking up my crappy health (cramps and headcold) on the eve of the new year to getting it out of the way for 2010. May it be so for you & D too!

I suspect I'm having the thai coconut chicken soup for breakfast. With springrolls. And then swim and shopping and Up in the Air. I really want to see this movie.

When I have met famous people, I've usually assumed they are people I work with, since they look familiar (and all have been in city, so fairish assumption.) Which is funny, and means I am not a fannish dork, just a clueless one.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

How's yours doing? K still talks about the dinner where you called Noah freaky.

I called him freaky! I don't remember that. Suffice to say, I'm not quite as excited. We have to put it off 4-5 years while I pay student loans, anyway.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I ated too much sushi. Yum

I found a gift at Costplus I (so far) have kept for myself--a maple syrup grade sampler pack--small bottles of Vermont Fancy, grade A medium amber, grade A dark amber, and Grade B. Yum

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Is it the same shield that keeps it perfect weather almost every time?

YES.

Depends on the level of fame of the person for me. I mean weird politics fame (like seeing Jesse Helms without a shirt on or Ruth Bader Ginsberg in a bathing suit) doesn't phase me. But weird FAME FAME probably does.

Would it be wrong to gobble up 3 of the 4 cupcakes I made for Noah? Of course it would. But just one?

Jesusfuckingchrist, I hate hormones. Not enough to give me painful cystic zits in awkward painful places and cramps, I just had to start crying thinking about this year. It was good, ok. What's with the waterworks?
