"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I sort of like Tom Hanks, and appreciate that he and Rita Wilson are behind-the-scenes movers and shakers on a number of films I like. But I'd just as soon never see him act again.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hope no one else asks me about my plans for New Year's. I don't want to talk about the funeral again. But it feels disingenuous not to.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

When do you fly out, ita?

Tomorrow morning. People keep asking what I'm doing with my time off, not just what I'm doing tonight, which is a big fat nothing/packing.

Ugh. You should make up something fabulous.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

You don't have to talk about anything you don't want to. You can tell them the truth or tell them personal stuff or lie and say you're going to lie on the beach. When it comes to stuff like this, you aren't beholden to your audience.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, that's so hard, ita.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

That best dresses thing is an absurdly slow-loading slide show. Fuck that. The Atlantic had a ridiculous slide show yesterday with champagne cocktails -- not only was there a slide per drink, but the slide just named the drink and you had to click again to find out WTF was in it. I'm not your click fairy, magazine!

Now tagless for your comfort.

I like Tom Hanks. I think he paid his dues(Bosom Buddies) and is a genuinely hard worker. He doesn't always choose the best material (I HATED Castaway) but I love his work on Apollo 13 and That Thing You Do. I also think he did a great job in helping get From the Earth to the Moon made. Plus, he was on the board of The Nature Conservancy and did a great job doing some PSAs for them. He doesn't strike me as smug. I think he keeps a low profile for such a Hollywood bigshot.

The story where he stopped production on Angels & Demons to get the bride through Rome's traffic (backed up by the filming) and to the alter in time for her wedding charmed me to no end.

Plei, I think I've finally mastered the the manicure. The color is Otherwise Engaged.
