Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

OK, I get to go home now....

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm supposed to have dinner with family at the hotel restaurant, but the reservation my grandmother made is for 7:30 and they have no kids menu, so we may stay in and order take-out instead. Either way I will probably be toasting the new year around 9:30 and then conking out. (With my customary one-glass-of-champagne-allowed-while pregnant.)

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

The only Tom Hanks movie I still like is Big. The one I can't forgive that comes to mind is The Green Mile, even more than Forest Gump.

KBD and I are also having a low key night. We're cooking steaks for dinner and watching 9. I've been making him watch LoM UK but he seems to prefer the US version, even preferring Keitel to Glenister as Gene Hunt. Heretic.

We watched District 9 last night. About five seconds in, I realized/remembered that it was PJ and therefore going to be very gross. I was not wrong. Still not sure what I thought of it; I think I want to go back and read some critiques on lj.

brillig

District 9 is one of the best movies I ever saw, but it's not for the faint of heart.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The one I can't forgive that comes to mind is The Green Mile, even more than Forest Gump.

Oh, god, The Green Mile is probably my archetypal (hated) Magical Negro movie. Making him simple is bonus.

I'm cautiously psyched about the job budgeting.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

It's snowing outside. I'm a little alarmed.

Not as alarmed as I was when I initially misread your name as DavidS!

Re the dresses, I'd never heard of Leighton Meester before, and her outfit was an incredible eyesore, but it was a unified eyesore with a consistent, if glaring, aesthetic, and since she was at some kind of edgy, costumey art exhibit opening event I had to give her a pass. It looked to me like the kind of thing that will really only work for one single freakass event ever, and she was lucky enough to find that one.

Madonna's thing at a similar event, though? Fail. And the not-exactly-a-hat thing made me angry.

Cate Blanchett is adorable, even in an afghan. And I can't believe that the best dresses of the decade list had no mention at all of this outfit, which is still one of the most gorgeous things I've seen in any decade ever.

Apollo 13 is probably my favorite Serious Tom Hanks movie.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I LOVE Apollo 13.

Also have to mention That Thing You Do.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just realized that the voiceover on Burn Notice reminds me of my current favorite HGTV show, Income Property.

hip deep in pie

Yay ita.

The good news, I most likely have a virus, not strep. The bad news, the doctor thinks I am going to feel worse before I feel better. He said this virus is a lot like mono and lasts about a week.

He didn't swab me for strep, but he did say that if I spiked a fever or my tonsils swelled up even more, that there is a doctor on call all weekend and I should come in.
