Heh. I think for the subtlety -- you got your booze in a brown paper package? But I don't actually know.
Also, I had a friend in high school whose boyfriend was nicknamed "Packy" like the liquor store, and no one thought there was a problem with that!

Mass. is crazy. Even in my youth, package stores there were open until 10 pm, not 8 pm, as in the ever-more-civilized Conn.

It was not until 1994 that businesses in Massachusetts were allowed to open before noon on Sundays.
We just started to e able to buy wine and liquor on Sundays here in NY, too, I think. I don't know if you still can't buy beer before noon on a Sunday, though.
NY did some thing where a liquor store can't be open 7 days, but they can pick which, right?
It was only a couple of years ago that any Sunday Shopping was allowed in Nova Scotia. There was a real fight against it. But bars were allowed to be open.
