I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Roads were scary enough last night that I e-mailed my boss and said "I do not want to drive. I will work from home."

Seriously, this winter thing is nuts.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I am having a hard time getting into work, despite actually cranking through a good amount of thoughtless computer work I had. Taking a half day does that to me sometimes. I don't think American Psycho (which is now profoundly disturbing) is helping any and yet there is no way I can stop reading it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We have bumped into crazy data issues the day the data migration guys are to show up. Plus I'm wondering if there's more Power Consolidation Wrangling going on that I'm being dragged into. Don't wanna.

So everyone and their mother is releasing a best/worst/most of the decade list of some sort, it seems. Geeks were hard core about the millenium not starting until 2001, but I see a lot less sturm und drang about the decade ending with 2009. Different rules, or exhaustion?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Different rules.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Taking a half day does that to me sometimes.

It's kind of like a long weekend -- just long enough to remind you what not working is like, not long enough to be done with it!

Why does "the decade" get different rules from "the millenium"? The first decade started in 01, right? Aren't we losing a year somewhere?

Team lunch got cancelled for our subteam. I'm both miffed and relieved.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I concur on different rules. The twenties, for example, will be a discrete decade and are neatly delineated by having a "2" in the tens spot.

Milleniums and decades measure different things. Like weeks don't fit into months.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Unless I really don't like someone or they have fleas or something, I'm usually willing to be hugged if they want to. I don't often initiate hugs, even with people I'm close to and have hugged before. The only person I'll initiate a spontaneous hug with is the person I'm currently sleeping with. If I'm not hugging them, a breakup is imminent.

I want to read American Psycho.

I just added it up, and next year my vacation+sick time totals 65.5 days. I am surprised. I'm taking two weeks vacation right now, to burn off the days I can't carry over; it's bull, because I've been working every day anyway. I'll carry over 10, I get 24, and the rest is accrued sick days.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

The first decade of the 21st century = 2001-2010 while the noughts are 2000-2009. Both perfectly cromulent decades.
