I don't know about you guys, but I've had it with super-strong little women who aren't me.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I hate that it already dark outside.

CJ was complaining about this yesterday and wanted to know when nights would start getting shorter. For a moment he looked at me in awe when I told him December 21st. Like I had the magic skill to shift sunlight. Then he noticed the calendar and the note "Winter Solstice".

For a moment there I was SUPERMOM.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Did anyone else hear this pronounced as "kay?" in their head. With the question uplift, even.

Did anyone else hear this in Manuel's voice, from Fawlty Towers?

Are we talking about geek self-awareness or first act of geekness?

The latter would be one of two things in elementary school: drawing people in the theater watching Ghostbusters (the librarian scene, I still have the drawing) or role playing Doctor Who and Leela meet Buck Rogers and Colonel Deering.

The former, possibly dressing up as Wacko from Animaniacs.

I'd rather be called geek than dork. I think it's a phonetic thing.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I know ita wrote some early Mary Sue fanfic before she even knew about fanfic

I had some unknowing early forays into what I can now code as typically fannish behaviour. Some scarred me forever (RPF), some just paved the way for who I still very much am.

I realise I characterised Highlander as where it all started, but it would have to be Robin of Sherwood. Man, the shit we made up, not just about Robin, but also about Michael Praed. Highlander is the first TV show I looked for stuff online about. But I was avidly collecting comics around the time of RoS too.

msbelle, compared to the average joe, just by virtue of having found here and stayed for more than a minute, you're fannish. You too, flea. Just, compared to many of us, you're pretty much conventional.

As, of course, am I, now.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The former, possibly dressing up as Wacko from Animaniacs.

Genius! I need a picture. We could do Julianna as Yakko and Jilli as Dot.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I will accept fannish.

I will not accept nerd, either.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We should have some sort of ritualized celebration involving lights to ensure that the days start getting longer.

Like what, setting fire to Joe Lieberman?

I am intrigued by this idea and would like to subscribe to your literature.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Did anyone else hear this in Manuel's voice, from Fawlty Towers?

Yes!

We played at being Frodo et al when I was in elementary school. I guess after the Bakshi movie? There was a lot of sort of LARPing Wonder Woman before that. But surely all kids do that sort of thing, no?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm pretty sure my first and only act of fannish geekiness was posting on the TT Buffy threads.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In my head, geek doesn't have any social connotations--it just indicates an above-average interest and knowledge. So I might say msbelle geeks out about period architecture and design. You can be a dork without any redeeming anything--it just means you're silly. And nerds are probably bookish, probably shorter on conventional social skills, but there's a nerd code of conduct too.

In my files, anyway.
