Really, I was reminding myself.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

It's a good reminder! I frequently have to remind myself too.

Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Thanks all for the ~ma, especially Glamcookie, beth, Typo Boy, Zenkitty, smonster, Perkins, Cashmere, and ita. I really appreciate it. An update: the wedding went off, mostly without a hitch, and was just beautiful. I mostly was able to compartmentalize, and mostly to have a good time. Now, I've been in my hotel doing a combination of centering, working on my cousin's virtual memorial, and weeping; this, too, is good.

I cannot say how important it was for me to have someone I could tell about this, and how valuable your support is. Thank you all.

Done today:

Coffee out, then Target and Lowes. Library then 2 different post offices. Lunch at the Noodle House. REI to pick up a gift. Nap. Wrapped presents. Made dinner. Ate dinner. Attempted to see lights at the Balian House (FAIL) and the crazy house near us (ALSO FAIL). Home now and ready to be all bleh.

All of my xmas shopping is done except for one thing.

How was Balians a FAIL, Kat?

I grew up about 4 blocks from there, so it's still kind of freaky to me that people drive from far away to get there.

God, libkitty, what an emotional rollercoaster. I'm glad you're dealing OK.

It wasn't lit, Perkins. Maybe because of the rain, but when we drove by it didn't even look like there were lights/displays out.

The status is NOT quo.

Libkitty, I'm sorry you had to deal with such emotional ups and downs. Very glad you found some joy, too.

I'm in a weird place, gift-wise. I've never had a lot to buy since I'm an only child and my parents never remarried, but I used to shop for them, my grandmother, my mom's small immediate family, and one member of my dad's huge family via lottery. Then the huge family stopped exchanging, then mom's family went to a lottery, then that family stopped exchanging, and last year my parents decided none of us really needed to spend the money. So now I might buy Mom and Dad some little thing, but that's it. Drew and I usually exchange, but we are trying to save for the wedding, so I'm just buying him one small-ish thing. It's nice not to spend the money, but I kind of miss exchanging presents. I liked finding nice things for the people I love.
