I hope you don't think that I just come over for the spells and everything. I mean, I really like just talking and hanging out with you and stuff.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Have you seen today's xkcd Jess? It made me think of you.

Natural parenting? Yes, it's brilliant.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

there's not some larger set of people who would be faster than him

But he's the guy with the size advantage over everyone else. It's not fair for them to have to run against him, if size is the discriminator.

I wonder about genetics in other sports. Cheryl Miller was a better b-ball player than her brother, I swear, and he had a good NBA career.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

But he's the guy with the size advantage over everyone else.

Bolt's size shouldn't be an advantage, since he's an unusually tall sprinter. He's an exception to the rule that more compact men are better sprinters -- the rule has something to do with leg turnover.

Dear lord. They're playing/singing carols in the nearest conference room. And unless they switch to Latin or Band Aid they're unlikely to hit anything I like. I don't hate Feliz Navidad, but they're butchering that. I guess it's best they don't sing anything I'm fond of.

I'm too old school about Christmas songs. They need to have Jesus in them, or, apparently, starving Ethiopians. Latin is a bonus.

But Jesse's carving the groups up by size as if that was the edge. If it's not an edge, then why divide along those lines? If it's an edge, it's either theoretically unfair to the taller or the shorter guys if you have a wide height spread because of outliers.

Adeste fidelis, eat a muffin, whitey!

The only German I know is Silent Night, and I can never say "nacht" without drawing out the "cht" into an incredibly phlegmy "-ACCCCCHHHTT!"

Thanks, 8th grade choir teacher!

Frosty the Snowman! Cold-celebrating LA-living freaks! And where did the bumpety bumpety chorus come from? Am I really that out of touch with Christmas schmaltz?

My god, I'd love Little Drummer Boy at this point. Probably too un-secular.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It was just a throwaway thought -- is there some way to divide humans into groups that makes sense, if gender isn't the way?

I'm not sure that's entirely right, since they're apparently part of Quiverfull, where women should be submissive, contraception is like abortion and having lots of children is a tool to obtain demographic superiority.

I haven't paid enough attention to what the Duggars actually say to know if this applies to them, but I don't mind people believing things I don't, as long as they can leave me alone to go another way. Aside from the "demographic superiority" bit, because I guess eventually they would take over the world, but I don't see that as an imminent threat.

David Bowie Bing Crosby!!

Is is wrong that I always want Bowie to dress up as the Goblin King to sing that?

Ooh, I need to rent Labyrninth.
