Take jobs as they come -- and we'll never be under the heel of nobody ever again. No matter how long the arm of the Alliance might get, we'll just get ourselves a little further.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I never get a good night's sleep on Nyquil. Every 6 or 7 years or so I forget that and take it, and inevitably regret it.

I thought Lovely Bones was a good concept with a middling execution. Ending was Not Good. But there were some great moments. I wanted to like it more, but oh well.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I had to vote. A walk to Remember was on that list. I hated it. But so many people were coming into the library raving about it and looking for something like it. So I read it. ugh

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I started looking at places in my parents' neighborhood, while watching Designed To Sell, and I am now realizing how much work I'll have to do after my grandmother dies (some day) and they want to rent or sell her apartment....

It did. But by not turning over= not catching at all. Followed by blue smoke when it did, which I've never had happen before. And it started without complaint this evening. Keep in mind, I had a freakish thing happen with the somethingorother teeth ring on a flywheel coming unglued a few years back, and it did the same won't-catch routine then. So I'm watching to see if this happens again.

Good news is work and my mechanic are so much closer and have lots of coworkers nearby I could beg for rides. Bad news is I really don't need anything like this right now.

Why does Mister Kitty do the loud mournful cries whenever he goes upstairs??

OK, pool.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Every so often my mother will ask me why I haven't bought a place. She and my sister are totally oblivious to what housing costs in DC ... and anyplace with reasonable transit is about as expensive, unless you go waaaay out. There was a story in the paper a while ago about a young couple that bought a townhouse to fix up. They didn't have to do any demolition - not only had all the appliances and some of the plumbing been pulled out, the staircases had been taken out. Cost of this gem? a little over $300K.

So true. The only ending that could be worse? "When Susie woke it was all a dream."

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Can someone whitefont the ending of Lovely Bones for me? Maybe it will kickstart my memory.

If I had it in print I'd just skim it, but the CD version is pretty impenetrable for quick consumption.

Dagnabbit. I went to the supermarket and forgot to buy flour. It was on my list!
