You know, it's funny. We went to war never looking to come back, but it's the real world I couldn't survive.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My kids certainly know about vinyl LPs and VCRs (which we still use almost daily since I've got all Emmett's old tapes, and I can get used ones for $1.99 at Amoeba).

And Emmett and I still like to go blow our money at the arcade, though now that he's got a Wii I'm wondering how long that will last.

Coding and Sleeping

We are starting to get lobbied for Nintendo related items as Christmas gifts. I'm all for a Wii, but I'm less sure about the DS.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

A few years back a WFMU DJ was telling the story about how a listener (who I think was about 19) called her and asked what a 12" single was.

Ethics question:

Is it wrong to ding a business on yelp because the business owner almost caused an accident with you while she was driving? And you know the business's name because it was plastered on the car? And you know it's the owner because according to the pic on the website, it's the same woman who was gesticulating and rudely cursing you, even though you had the right of way?

Isn't that what Yelp is for?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, I'd say as long as you're reporting that incident, not saying you've done business with her and she sucks (if you haven't), I don't see the problem...

For grudge matches?

That was in response to Tom.

I think I'm naive because I always write yelp reviews for places I really like that I think should get business or I hope will stay in business.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I understand there's a gun range up in NH where they have Uzis you can rent (and very carefully fire, with an instructor at your side). Anybody want to go?

Check out this cautionary tale:

8 year old boy shot in the head when uzi recoiled

The boy was attending the gun fair with his father and brother Colin, a sixth-grader. His father, Charles Bizilj, said Christopher had experience firing handguns and rifles, but Sunday was his first time firing an automatic weapon. A certified instructor was with the boy at the time.

This is why I still dial with numbers most of the time, just so I'll remember the important ones.

me too.

ding them, but just for what you described. Something like "I don't know if they're any good at the business, but the owner almost sideswiped me in a company car, then cursed and flipped me off. I wouldn't want to give someone like that my business."
