Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

New thread, wheeee!!

Just finished watching Moonshot. It doesn't matter that Apollo 11 was 40 years ago, it still chokes me up to see and hear about it.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

So! I went to jury duty today. Ha ha ha. My panel got called, and I was in voir dire until 6:30pm. I didn't get selected, thank goodness, but I think my current migraine is to do with lack of water and food and STRESS.

Also, my roommate had a pet emergency this evening, AND our landlord wants me to move my car so she can park there next week. The car that currently isn't insured and at least needs a new battery before it runs. Ahahahahaha.

Now, I've procrastinated re: my car for ages because I sometimes SUCK at being a grown up. I guess this means I really should look into a charitable donation, because the thought of dealing with people to sell the car as-is? Probably I'd get arrested, and I don't want to go back to criminal court that soon.

Heeeeeeeeee! ita, so in Sag Harbor, they talk about two black boys who go to a prep school, who are always dressed in Brooks Brothers etc and they talk about how people always assume they are the sons of an African Diplomat, which of course makes me think of you.

I think you'd like this book.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Anybody read any Colson Whitehead?

The Buffista Book Club did The Intuitionist one month, and I really liked it.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Ooh, first quarter-century? It's been a while. Love the title.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

This is wigging me out and I have to share:

Teller of Penn & Teller, prop comedian Carrot Top and Neil Gaiman, author of Coraline and the Sandman series, will all step up to the stage

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Cool, new thread!

ION, my cat blocked ita. Who is now unblocked.

I'll have to give my cat a talking-to.

Er...I'm scared to click on that link just because you mention Carrot Top. But...is Neil Gaiman going to be around at the same TIME as Teller and Carrot Top? Has anyone warned him that this seems like a REALLY BAD IDEA? and that he should run FAR AWAY?

the signs on all of the cases actually read, "Short-Haired Hamster, Male" and "Dwarf Hamster, Male," or whatever. Rats, guinea pigs, gerbils, every sign said male.

Oh, I bet it's just a lie then. Make all the parents not worry about the pets having babies.

That's how it sounds to me, meara, like they will all be on the same stage. I think that the link is actually safe and that's the only mention of Carrot Top. No pictures.

Does anyone else find it ironic that on the 40th anniversary of landing on the moon, astronauts spent the day fixing the toilet on the space station?
