On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Our wings are not tired.

Oh, poor puppy, and poor Teppy and Boy too. I hope he gets some rest tonight before his reward tomorrow.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

So, here's something I just learned: what a swamp cooler really is. (Hint: NOT something that you put beer in for a picnic.)

(Seriously, I thought it was like a cooler-cooler). It is not.

t edit Which everyone else in the world probably already knew.

t slinks away, embracing new knowledge as well as shame at un-informed-ness

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

OMG MY DAD HAS GONE TO BED.

DID HE TURN OUT THE LIGHT ON HIS WAY OUT OF THE ROOM WITH YOU SITTING THERE?!?!?!?

I'm sorry. That should not be hysterical. It's just so brilliantly typical of a certain kind of oblivious behavior. It's going to be my stock example for a looong time.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Dinner tonight: BLTs with spicy mustard and toasted cheese, and a blueberry-lemon clafouti.

I have to say, the already cooked bacon, while more expensive and not as thick cut, is SO worth it in less clean up time.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

DID HE TURN OUT THE LIGHT ON HIS WAY OUT OF THE ROOM WITH YOU SITTING THERE?!?!?!?

That was pretty damn boggling. Not least because roughly 99.8% of the tales sarameg tells about her parents make it clear that both of them think the sun rises and sets on her. How can turn-out-the-lights guy be the same as that other guy in all the other stories?

I'm so glad you're about to have your house back to yourself again (except for the deck people, but oh how worth it that'll be once they're done).

ION, we may be utterly insane. Deb Grabien found an abandoned but completely tame rabbit in the park a couple of nights ago, and it's entirely possible that he may end up living with us. I can think of a million reasons why it's a bad idea to take on the commitment and cost of a pet, and yet...just that fat soft solemn face, crunching loudly on greens and staring at us in mild surprise--I've missed living with animals so very much. He's neutered and housebroken and just a big lollopy creature. Oh dear.

“Not dead yet!”

Oh, how can helping a sweet critter be bad? I saw her LJ and I swear, if I'd been there, I'd have been a goner.

BUNNY!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Bunnies are pretty low maintenance. A friend of mine in Columbus had one that was litter trained and she used to cuddle with him on the sofa and watch tv.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Given that you can't have cats, and I can't imagine with your lives currently how you could fit in a dog, this seems like potentially a great thing. Especially for a poor abandoned creature.

On a somewhat related note. I gathered up and washed a whole bunch of Lucy's toys and leashes and things and I want to take them in to the Anti-Cruelty Society soon. I'm kind of scared about it. I'm very not ready for a new animal, but I don't know what going in and seeing the poor homeless critters will do to me.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Steph if it makes you feel better I think a swamp cooler is a bit esoteric for a lot of us. I only learned what one was a couple years ago when my FiL tried to talk us into having him install one. My DH was practically doing his imitation of a tv sitcom character, waving his hands and shaking his head vehemently behind his father's back.

As for the bunny JZ, we are total enablers here. I think only Anya and maybe Hec are going to try to talk you out of it.
