Giles, if you would like to get by in American society, then you are going to have to follow our traditions. You're the patriarch. You have to host the festivities, or it's all meaningless.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Congrats, Kiba!

I'm thinking a scoop of each might be the answer.

Sadly, I am too full from dinner to have more than a few spoonfuls right now. I think I will have a small amount of each though.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

As if that ever stopped anyone here. Myself included.

Me neither. I was just about to post that I'm earwormed with the '70s Fig Newton commercial. But it's no big deal, as I've been happily singing it to myself.

Anyway, I'd say that's not significant.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Isn't the definition of natter - pretty much the same as chit chat?

eta: from the free on line dictionary

to talk idly and at length; chatter or gossip n prolonged idle chatter or gossip

I may have to seize the cat.

I feel very reassured by all of your statements that you, too, have nothing of significance to say.

In fact, I'd say those statements were significant.

It sort of makes me hunker down in singletonhood. Not in a bitter way, or anything. Just representing.

ita, hold on to it. Enjoy it. I know some people who really miss it. (I don't, because I never had it in the grown up way that most people do. But I also have all the freedom I'd ever want, because I'm not interested in romantic/sexy behavior with other folks, and I'm still free to go out, go to parties, run off for a few days in LA, etc, and the husband prefers I leave him at home for things like that anyway.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I decided to go the third-party route and buy ice cream instead of making it. What I really wanted was tres leches ice cream, but I haven't seen that in an age. So I got B&J strawberry cheesecake. Don't really like it. I should have just bought the fixings for any flavour ice cream myself. I always like that.

Because books.

I have no ice cream and now I am sad. Which is pretty much the most significant thing I have to say at the moment.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I made pumpkin muffins this evening. They are pretty good, if I do say so myself.

But after the chat here, I wish I had pumpkin ice cream.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Congrats, lisah!! What a wonderful proposal story.

Also, congrats to Kiba! And happy birthday to Ginger!

From upthread

I think I need to put all the Charlie Brown specials on the Christmas list. I'd rather have them all without commercials

They do have a boxed set of Charlie Brown DVDs--we were selling them last year at B&N.

Man, lotsa neat news! Congrats, Kiba!

I may have to seize the cat.

I feel like I should be in a perpetual state of thanking for the congrats. (Not as bad as the awkwardness of being thanked by someone for the thank you note you sent them, though.)

I envy no one's ice cream, as I'm chilly here.

I made pumpkin muffins this evening. They are pretty good, if I do say so myself.

But after the chat here, I wish I had pumpkin ice cream.

Okay, I maybe would love some pumpkin ice cream. I made two loaves of pumpkin bread to take to a friend's house but at the last minute decided to keep one of them at home. So the right decision, ohmygoodness.
