I bought 9 bags of candy. I've got maybe a bag's worth left. That's pretty good for not knowing what the turnout would be like. And it started raining about 7:45 or so.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

At one point I had Darth Vader and Obi-Wan trick or treating together.

Intergalactice peace is a beautiful thing.

She's so awesome. (The random wookie on the steps is a little weird, though -- possibly a Secret Service wookie? Or Joe Biden?)

We started with 3 bags of candy and have close to 2 left. The Boy -- who is the biggest chocolaholic I've ever met -- is thrilled. Now we're getting dressed to go commit some merriment. I'm a kitty, and he is a a fairy princess. (Halloween is awesome for cross-dressers in conservative towns.)

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Ooh. Maybe Yoda was there too. Good relations with the Wookies he has.

The status is NOT quo.

She is a class act. I love our First Lady unreservedly.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

One of the cute girls at my comic book store had put together an awesome Batgirl costume, complete with grappling hook. And then this little girl came in also wearing a Batgirl costume, and they took an adorable picture together.

The other cute girl dressed up as Buffy. From the movie, with the letter jacket and pink tights. Just like this!

I haven't been out much today, so I haven't seen any amazing costumes.

They're doing some work at the CTA station near me. They're dumping big loads of gravel onto the street, then using loaders to dump the gravel into one of those round things suspended from a crane, then lifting it up onto the tracks. A little boy was all excited by all the construction equipment moving gravel about, and a construction worker was stoking his excitement, by saying "Ooooh! Oh yeah! All right!" and stuff like that as they watched.

Because books.

We took the cheerleader trick-or-treating (she declined to zombie it up, sadly), and the Roaming Gnome went out on his own with his buddy. They're back now, though, counting their loot and crowing with Sara.

It was FREEZING. Saw lots of princesses, a few wolfmen, a few preteens in costumes of indeterminate homemade nature, and lots of tired, chilled parents.

My neighbors who will be watching the cats stopped by: Mary Poppins, Chim Chim Cheree, a Hungarian fairy (she's Hungarian, this is her first US Halloween) and Red Riding Hood. Awesome! Plus got a few more kids.

And Devi totally didn't hide. Matt was even able to go and pet her and SHE DIDN'T HIDE! He's a total cat whisperer.
