Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I remember one conversation:

"Did you watch [such and such]?"

"No."

"Did you watch [this other show]?"

"No."

"Did you watch [some other show]?"

"No."

"Well, what did you watch?"

With the subtext of "...you non-TV-watching freak."

They don't get to watch TV after dinner. That's time for games or reading. Of course, when they watch TV has no impact since everything is watched off recordings.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

On the social front, he is socializing, but he's somewhat culturally out of touch with his peers which means he sometimes can't join in very well. He doesn't watch the same TV shows, he doesn't have any Nintendo stuff, he doesn't have any toys tied into that sort of stuff.

Doesn't this just mean he'll grow up to be a Buffista?

(I was totally that kid in school. We didn't have cable, so I missed out on almost everything my generation was watching. I was the kid watching Small Wonder while my classmates were all talking about MTV.)

For me, the worst thing was that evening chores interfered with my watching Battlestar Galactica. So there were a bunch of episodes that I only saw part of.

Stupid calves and cows, always needing to be fed and bedded....

Mostly, I think he just doesn't know other stuff exists. For them, shows just show up on a list, they don't really have the concept of watching a channel.

You should have put a TV in the barn so they'd be hooked on the show too.

If he's not interested that's fine, but I feel like we really haven't given him the option to check out more things.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

certain nights were No TV Nights

We weren't allowed to watch TV on school nights, though I believe that was relaxed for Cosby Show and Different World. I remember being left out of the many conversations involving Growing Pains, but yeah... not a big deal.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

I watched every TV show known to man (except we did not watch Dukes of Hazzard for some reason), and I still had nothing to talk about with people! But I can understand why you are thinking of relaxing your rules a bit.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Gud, I'd say give him more options. But I'm a firm believer in the social importance of sharing or at least being able to fake sharing various cultural touchstones with your peer group.

Not that this helps if, say, your kid just doesn't like TV, like mine.
