So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

1 active duty laptop for daily use, 1 netbook, 1 TB external shared drive, 4-5 flash drives, 1 rarely-booted desktop, 1 rarely-booted Powerbook, plus my work machines and my iPhone. Oh, right. And the laptop in the closet.

That's just my computers. Paul has a few, too.

Shit. My husband's boss had a heart attack at work. Taken to the ER and transferred to a larger, cardiac unit somewhere. He's not that old, either. I really hope he's going to be ok.

Fingers crossed for him, Cash.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Hmm... my netbook, my work laptop, media server, hub's netbook, hub's desktop, crappy old laptop in the kitchen, 2 iphones, ...

That's just my computers.

Oh thank GOD. I should've known Plei would save my pathetic nerdly ass.

I'm sure I'm leaving one or two out. We actually need to do a serious hardware clean up and then get a good household desktop.

Paul mostly uses his work laptop, sometimes his Powerbook. Not sure when last he used his desktop.

brillig

I would like to get a laptop--New! Shiny! Yay!--but I love the widescreen monitor I have, and I hate the keyboards on laptops. And touchpads are evil. It seems stupid to get a laptop then attach peripherals like a mouse and my ergonomic keyboard

until you want to take it somewhere, and then it's GENIUS. You can also get a docking station to make it easier.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I love touchpads. But they suck for graphics, which I need to do.

I vacillate between getting a cheap laptop/netbook or not to supplement a relatively powerful desktop with a big monitor. Not this year anyway, maybe next year.

hwæt

    • MacBook Pro
    • Mac Mini, attached to the TV
    • Netbook running XP, mostly used to VPN to work
    • A tiny little wall-wart Linux server
    • iPhone
    • Airport Router
    • Epson printer/scanner

Oh, and my old PowerMac G5, sitting unused in the closet.
