I know a German woman (German citizen, not German-American) who is very nice in most ways, but will go on about how great Jews are how much Jews have accomplished, and so on. And the thought occurs to me: I'll bet I'm getting a taste of what other races and ethnic groups in the U.S. get a whole lot more often.

Hah. I commented. When I saw her in Philly, it was a small venue, and I got to go up and say "My dad bought you coffee once!" I was a dork. I grew up listening to her. A Voice to Sing With made a big impression on 13 year old me.

My mom fainted today and none of her coworkers thought to tell my family until the end of the day. They were too scared of her to ask for contact info or something. There's a chance it might have been a mini stroke, but how to know? It's too late for that, apparently. She's okay now, I think, though. My sister didn't actually say. I assume positively.
