I remember the one time I heard a big car accident in my last apartment. It was right after I moved in there, and the accident actually took place two blocks down. It ended up being a fatal crash, even though the people were only driving at 30 mph.

The car crash I experienced in my new place was more than just hearing it--the senior citizen who parks in the handicapped spot in front of the building put his car into drive instead of reverse and floored it when he wasn't going backwards like he expected, so he jumped the curb and crashed right into the building two floors directly below my balcony. It was weird hearing the crash and feeling the building shake at the same time, and even weirder to run out on my balcony, lean over, and see the car's trunk poking out of the building below me.

My at-the-time boyfriend and I once heard a car crash right across the street from our apartment. Horrible noise. A car going about 40 had crashed into a car parked (legally) on the side of the road. Not sideswiped, either; full-on crash. The impact drove the parked car over the curb and about five feet into the lawn. It was daytime, quiet residential neighborhood, and the driver wasn't drunk; she just wasn't paying attention.

There was an accident at a four-way stop a block and a half from me in Wicker Park. Both streets were side streets. It was a four-car collision - two teenagers were racing - both ran the stop sign and hit a car in the intersection, driving it into a parked car. One car then went through a fence and into a building.

When we were driving down to Georgia for my uncle's funeral, we stopped at a gas station. While we were there, I watched a car edge ever so slightly off the road as it approached us and then crash right into a pole. It was very surreal. Especially since my uncle had died in a car accident.

Hi ChiKat! How is the new school?

I'm in bed, mildly cooked on drugs, and surfing vintage clothing sites. This could be bad. Especially since I a) need to lose weight and b) don't need to spend the money since we need it all for our impending move.

That said, I think this dress is very pretty, but I think the color would be ass on me. What say you?
