Do I really want the ... explained?
Waaaaay back in the Pleistocene Era, there was Salon, and Table Talk, and there was She Who Shall Not Be Named, who was (and, apparently, still is) an extremely voluble and, at first, superficially charming poster, who became more and more bent as time went on. She developed hate-ons for various people and derailed several previously thoughtful threads on at least one sub-board that numerous people had put
massive
amounts of time and effort and brutal self-examination into, threads that had the potential to form real rich communities (thank God she never went near Buffy). And somewhere around Table Talk's switchover from free to pay, she did a flounce-off to her own private special community, populated mostly by her sycophants, where, judging from the links provided in the comments on the WaPo story, she's been growing more and more unhinged in her splendid isolation.
Toxic. Cruel. A blight on the internets.
Damn.
Um.
Weddings! Dancing in the aisles! No dead animals in my apartment for weeks and weeks!
Dude, I tried.
But she pushed me till I hated her too.
She who is not to be named is SERIOUSLY EVIL.
I'm not at all shocked that she's editing her vile spewings. I twitch at the thought of her. (I lurked over at TPW for a while a few years ago, and man, she was batshit. Wonder if the threads where she mocked old Table Talkers are still up.)
Whoa. I have not thought of that woman in years. Weird. She was just a wildly toxic presence.
I had erased She Who Shall Not Be Named from my memory. I think I ran into her on dieting/health forums.
And she had this amazing ability to sound reasonable every so often and then just jump off the bridge out of reality.
She has displayed a terrifying ability to hone in on anywhere on the intarwebs her name is called, but I'm sure we're too far under the radar and unimportant to rate for her, especially now.
My only personal interaction with her was when she came into the TTC (Trying to Conceive) forums and tried to taunt us by asking us why the forum was only for women trying to get pregnant, not those who found themselves with an unwanted pregnancy and wishing to abort. To find out she's exactly the same in person? And that she is planning on becoming a teacher?!? Oy.
I wasn't around for any of this.
But my first knee-jerk reaction is "LEMME AT HER!"
No. Please no.
But - ask Jilli and Pete - this makes my inner Skarrin sit up and howl for her blood.
It wouldn't be pretty, but it'd be damned entertaining for a couple of days.
For Teppy (and others) - cool xkcd: [link]
