Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

They also need the cover of the hospital merger to hide losing Heigl for a while-- I think she has filming to do. Hopefully that makes things interesting, like adding the carnies and a University to Heroes.

Thursday continues to be a logjam.

I am not reading the whitefont yet, because I got interrupted in my watching, and am still not all the way through the first hour.

Just popping by to say Happy Birthday Matilda!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

We are back from Matilda's birthday, and she is napping.

Good turn out, great cake, excellent sandwiches (via Emmett) much fun and cuteness and the carousel.

There was only one hitch. After we lit the candles, and sang Happy Birthday to her, Matilda was overcome with an excruciating sense of self-consciousness and ran away crying from her birthday picnic.

We had to round her up twice, and mollify her and finally she felt better after (a) chocolate cake; (b) Emmett playing with her on the swings for twenty minutes.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Aww. Well it was her party.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Still, it was...shocking, to see her jump up and bolt. She fled for the play structure and tried to climb up the ladder and hide in a corner, and could only be coaxed back out with much effort and gentle suasion and cuddling, and she never did get around to opening her presents. I think it was just overtiredness and overstimulation and finally, for the first time, completely grokking that all these people were here just for her, and that next year it'll all be routine and easy for her.

Please, please don't let her be crippled by shyness like I was. Please?

She's just awakened from her nap/utter swoon and is drowsing quietly in her crib, for which we got a rainbow-colored mosquito net to make it her private tent.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

JZ, I called to wish Matilda a happy birthday, but I guess it was party time. When she's awake, have her give me a call?

Trust my rage

Ellie cried when we sang to her at her 3rd birthday. Thankfully, the cake fixed the problem. Then, on her 4th, she grabbed the candles just after we blew them out, burned herself, and cried. That was also fixed with cake.
