Buffy. When I saw you stop the world from, you know, ending, I just assumed that was a big week for you. Turns out I suddenly find myself needing to know the plural of 'apocalypse.'

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Okay, it sounds like, from what the HR woman said, that they're planning to make me a verbal offer. At some point. After the background check is finished and they do a salary review.

She also said I'm a "top candidate". They can't make offers to more than one person at a time, right?

Because books.

Oh dear, my grandfather was a fireman. This conversation is now sort of surreal.

I also have to agree with ita on fucking McQueen. That's sort of as far as I got with the FCM, because my mind happily got stuck there.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

MY grandfather was a fireman (well, engineer on a fire boat; never once actually attacked a fire, but he helped get the guys TO the fires) - which was the "respectable" profession my grandmother forced him to take, when she decided "locksmith" was too much like "safecracker" and applied direct pressure to his self-image.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yeah, that's incredibly creepy.
