What? She killed 'em with mathematics. What else could it have been?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Certainly cheaper, if they're paying the spy less than the 7 figures a week that an Active would be earning them in the field.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Because maybe that imprint would be very sticky.

Wouldn't it be simpler just to pay somebody to spy on him?

This is, of course, the constant inherent question in the premise. Heh.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Actually, if Mellie were an Active, her role makes far more sense to me than Victors does. Mellie keeps tabs to see if Ballard is getting too close to the Dollhouse, and if she sees that he is, she is suddenly compelled to report to the Dollhouse.

I still don't get how they set up an elaborate set of rumors to *attract* Ballard to Lubov. Or even why (besides a really cool reveal). Unless Ballard was getting close to sniffing out someone who was a true Lubov and they needed to distract him from a genuine source of information. Because otherwise, Ballard's fumbling along with no leads, no hope other than the scraps that Alpha's thrown him (a picture) and essentially spinning in place. And then they deliberately introduce a ray of hope with Lubov.

I forget, what was the impetus to try and neutralize Ballard?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Ahahaha. From the TWOP recap:

When Echo's gone, Adelle asks Claire if "it's doable," and Claire sighs that "it" is experimental and highly invasive. Unlike, say, TURNING PEOPLE INTO HUMAN DOLLS.

Well played, Couch Baron.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

How many Actives do they have, anyway?

Yeah, I think we have no idea. With the "previous Sierra" comment I think the names give us no clue to the number at this point.

I like the idea of Mellie as activated by Alfa. Someone has the ability to not just wipe, but remotely wipe, so I think it's not that far-fetched to think that someone has the ability to imprint.

Incidentally, doesn't it seem like if you know someone can remotely wipe all your products that it would be a good time to pull everyone in from the field and reassess your options before blithely sending them out again?

Or at least not let them near phones.

I wonder if Fox frelling with episode order caused that glitch in continuity.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

I like the idea of Mellie as activated by Alfa. Someone has the ability to not just wipe, but remotely wipe, so I think it's not that far-fetched to think that someone has the ability to imprint.

But I wonder if he would. We don't know a lot about Alpha, but his gripe seems to be about how the Dollhouse treated him. Would he do the same thing? Obviously, we don't have enough information.

Incidentally, doesn't it seem like if you know someone can remotely wipe all your products that it would be a good time to pull everyone in from the field and reassess your options before blithely sending them out again?

Depends on if Topher was confident he could stop it from happening again, I suppose.

maybe that went the way of Victors face being plastered everywhere and the risk now involved if they send him out on other engagements.

And do they not realize Echo's face has been on TV now? Fleeting though it was. You'd think they'd want to be careful.
