My inferrence from the backup singer one was that she was one person with a subliminal imperative.
But how many backup singers can kick ass? They must combine that personality with the fighting skills, right? (although the "bitch you can fire me, but don't think that you can take me" was pure backup singer :) )
I can split that hair, ita. Taffy was playing the part of a stripper, so she had to be sexy during those parts, but once she got down to business, she was less provocative.
And I think your point about characters is key. The problem with
Dollhouse
is that Eliza doesn't play a consistent character besides Echo, so it seems like all her "hot" characters are EXCUSES for Eliza to be hot rather than anything character-based.
Hey, bonus points to Tim: he doesn't get Eliza naked on Friday. Edit: on the show.
Side note: the little riff that Eliza sang for the "audition" is stuck in my head. Is that a real song, or something that they wrote for the show?
I don't really have a favorite - or non-favorite episode. I did like the caper one , because it was a caper that failed. ( even if it succeeded in getting what they were after) . I'm spending more time trying to figure out the Dollhouse, wondering if any one is really who they are, and watching the actives remember things. I'm still not sure why the Dollhouse exists. Yes, a lot of money comes in, but a whole lot goes out too. I'm thinking it needs a purpose other than money.
Well, many businesses spend large amounts of money to make large amounts of money beth. FOX is a good example. I'm cool with thinking they're purely around to profit. In fact, I think I'd prefer that.
True, I just like a little conspiracy in my TV shows.

I was wondering the same thing. I noticed that the writers were Joss's brother & sister-in-law (forgot their names), who wrote music for Dr. Horrible (right?), so it wouldn't surprise me if the song was written for the show.

Little side note: I actually found Taffy *more* sexy once she got down to business, and much more sexy than any other personality Echo has been imprinted with so far--she was just pure low-key snarky confidence and breezy self-assured pleasure in her own safecracking competence. Happy, mellow confident competence (okay, and tight pants and killer boots), way sexier than short skirts and cleavage.
And give Paul something to do other than running around shouting at people
And now I have the sudden fear that Tahmoh is going to suffer the same fate as Jamie Bamber's Apollo on BSG.
