I wonder how many people in the cast knew Ward was going to go so operatically evil. Maybe slip the actor a note: "By the way, you're evil, don't tell anybody".
I would have to watch the first season again (which I probably won't ever do again ever because of the dreadfulness of most of it), but I don't recall there being any ambiguity about his performance to indicate that he might have even known himself that he was playing evil. Which was the only thing I hated about that twist. Evil Ward works better for me though. I hope he doesn't get cursed with a soul again anytime soon.
Thanks, sj. It's good to be around again.
I like Evil Ward much better too, but I really think he is irredeemable at this point. I hope the writers don't ever try to go there.
It's amazing how much more I "like" Ward when he's evil. It's like the actor is even more good-looking, as just one shallow example.
It's like Ward is more relaxed now he doesn't have to pretend not to be a psychopath anymore. Like his woodenness in the first part of Season 1 is a sign of his own cover up.
I want to say I read an interview where the actor said he wasn't told until an episode or two before the reveal. He actually thought they were calling him in to tell him they were killing him off.
Marvel developing Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff for ABC!
We’re told a spinoff is being developed by SHIELD executive producer Jeffrey Bell (Angel, The X-Files) and SHIELD writer Paul Zbyszewski (Lost, Hawaii Five-0).
However, story elements that are still to come on SHIELD this year will be used to lay the groundwork for the potential new series. So by the end of the season – assuming the details for this project haven’t already leaked, which is rather unlikely – the spinoff concept should be clear.
SHIELD currently averages 7.4 million viewers and a 2.8 rating among adults 18-49, when including seven days of DVR playback. If greenlit, the spinoff would expand Marvel’s TV empire yet again. On ABC there’s SHIELD and Agent Carter (that latter, we’re told, has about a roughly 60 percent chance of returning for a second season).
Iiiiiinteresting. Possibly a Mockingbird show?
I kind of like the proliferation of Marvel and DC shows everywhere. I think Constantine is likely dead, but Lucifer is a DC show also, so that would make 5 DC shows (Gotham, Flash, Arrow, Lucifer and the new CW Flash/Arrow spinoff show) coming up, and if Agent Carter gets renewed and this Shield spinoff gets picked up we'd have 3 Marvel shows, not including the 5 Semi-annual Netflix Marvel shows starting with Daredevil tomorrow.
Speaking of Daredevil, where is discussion for that held? Is Netflix considered premium cable?

Kalshane, I remember reading that too. But it's better if he was deliberately playing wooden!
Dammit, I want more Constantine lots more than I want an Agents of Shield spinoff.
(Gotham, Flash, Arrow, Lucifer and the new CW Flash/Arrow spinoff show)
There's also a live-action Teen Titans show coming to TNT. (I think it's called Titans and not so Teen, though).
